Re: Steering Servo Help ( Rock Crawler )

That JR works fine as well, you also don't need a lot of speed either for a rock crawler.

Re: Steering Servo Help ( Rock Crawler )

Have you checked to see how tight your steering linkage is... Disconnect the servo from the steering, and check to see how easy / hard it is to turn. If it does not move easily, then your steering is too tight, and you are overworking your servo.

Also, what voltage are you running. Some servos are not designed to handle higher voltages.

Re: Steering Servo Help ( Rock Crawler )

I have called Axial and they say that the Spektrum S6030 has plenty of torque , I checked and its has 270 ozs of torque at 6 volts not 170 as I thought . Is there any other reason for the servo to get hot other then its being overworked ? I just don't want to spend 150 dollars and have the same problem .

Thats your problem right there!!!...Get something with at least 400oz's of torque.

Before buying another servo and killing it, I'd be checking that the end point adjustments are set properly on your transmitter first.
You need to ensure that you're not forcing the servo to run up against hard mechanical stops imposed by your steering set-up.

Really good servo for 1/10 crawler steering: Hitec HS-7950TH
