Re: 60" Hawker Hurricane

Looks nice. I would like to build a warplane like that just to hang on the ceiling just as a model. You can get stuff for aluminum called aluminum black but I would think some flat black paint would look closer to parkerizing, even high temp BBQ paint would work for a dull grey/ black finish.

Thanks guys: The Callie's graphics really do finish her off. Now I have to find a scale Panzer tank to do moc attacks on-hehe.
Oh, yes, and wait for SPRING to fly the thing -##*!!! hehe! flytwice

Re: 60" Hawker Hurricane

Hi Mark: I know I take lowsy pictures, not on of my forte"s. I would call this build a "semi-scale" build at best. I built it for fun flying, it certainly isn't for any competition level. Your right about brownell's having the right colors, I didn't think I needed to go that level.
The most intriguing part was a build that would fly well on 3S system, at 60" wingspan. That has yet to be determined with my Hurricane, but all others built have flown well.

LOL, I noticed it after I posted... and yes, Parkerized would be right (and Brownell's bake-on finish would look exactly like that-an option for others, maybe?). Looks awesome at any rate!

Re: 60" Hawker Hurricane

There are some paints/coatings available for aluminum to make it look like gun blue, or at least more authentic than machined aluminum. Try Brownell's in the US; they ship to Canada (they're gun parts people) and they've got all kinds of finishes for all kinds of metals in spray cans, some are bake-on... might be worth a shot.

Or, a Sharpie might give them the right tone also.... you could try and experiment with some scrap pieces?
