Re: Building a Paint Booth

Good news!!... the paint booth has been torn down, the plastic was rolled up in a garbage bag and is sitting at the curb! The ZipWall poles were neatly stored in the included case for the next project

Overall, I was very happy how the booth worked!

When I do it again, I'll likely do the zipper again, but will install a 3rd air filter! The zipper isn't needed because even with it open, the smell won't come out. But by using the zipper, all incoming air is filtered for dust, which I've learned is extremely important for painting!!!

The teardown of the booth was a little smelly, so I still have the 750cfm fan in the window and will likely leave it on this evening while I work to clean out any stray fumes in my shop!!!

Thanks again to all those who helped me with this booth.... very valuable insight and my final product was way better than my original plan!!!

Cheers

Re: Building a Paint Booth

Well... spent the better part of 3 hours in my paint booth tonight, LOL!!!

Everything worked really well and that 750cfm fan sure pulls hard on the walls. With my workshop door closed and the HVAC turned off to the rest of the house, sucking air in from one window, through the furnace filters into the booth and then out the exhaust fan through the other windo worked very well.

Just as Cravenjw said, even with the zipper door open, all the fumes and smell stayed contained in the ZipWalls!!

Totally pumped!!!

One thing I'd do different next time... I'll make the paintbooth larger so I have more room to spray and store the freshly painted parts.... I'll likely do an 8 x 8 or 8 x 10 room in the w-shop next paint job!!! - easy to do with the ZipWalls.

I got my CH compressor downstairs and hooked up the water eliminator.

Also bought a new paint mask and a primer & paint gun

Got my 750cfm blower system rigged up outside. I took the screen out of the window and made up a 1/4" thick plate for the inlet of the blower!!

I fired it up WOW !!!!! That's some serious flow!! - Sounds like my 3W220CS, LOL!!!!
