Re: Smoke Not sure how it works at other fields, so might be off base here. . . But as the President of our club, I have an executive, and we roster off on being the OPI for the field each day. Whoever is running the field, calls the shots. If someone does something minor, they are warned. They do something outright stupid, or ignorant, then they're done, instantly. Pack up, sit and watch the adults, or go home, but take the day to think. Get rude or lippy with the OPI, you're done for a week. We've never had to go past the warning stage, in over a year. Why? We're all adults,(when we have to be), we all love the hobby, and we all love hanging out. We have electrics, park flyers, gliders, warbirds, jets, heli's, even rockets and free flight. Never an issue. If One of the guys fires up his jet, rest of us pull out the lawnchairs, and watch the show. If I'm training a student, everyone is extra careful not to unnerve them. Want to do 3d? Again, lawnchairs come out, the 3D guys do some formation hovering, rest of us watch, and take pictures. Common courtesy, respect for others, goes a long way to making a club fun! |

Re: Smoke In the first video that guys skills were quite evident. His lack of respect for anybody else was also quite evident. Not a cool move smoking out the flight line while others were flying. You can't loose site is the fact that these planes can be deadly if control is lost. To deliberately hamper another pilots ability to safely control his aircraft is a a move that only a self centred jerk would do. If the only video I saw was the second one that showed sweet flying skills I would think he's a good rc pilot unfortunately the first video didnt show that to me. It showed a skilled pilot with a lack of respect for others. Btw proper use of smoke is cool. Too much is just annoying. |

Re: Smoke Quote:
And yes I would feel uncomfortable landing in that fog. Which btw, happens to be a new product being developed by JP/FF and it does a very good job by the looks. Flow rate was a bit high though. |

Re: Smoke I think you are looking this on too much of a personal level. Take a step back and look at the video objectively. At a minimum you'd have to agree that the smoke show could have waited until the other planes were out of the air. I know I wouldn't want to have to land inside that fog |

Re: Smoke If you think those were smart a$$ remarks, stay at your field Bradley. I will defend a friend. I know Tavis, and yes there was a bit of a who's got the biggest balls part...but not started by the guy you're flaming. |

Re: Smoke I only posted my opinion after I read the hole flying giants thread. The part about the kid trying to land in a cloud of smoke wasn't that cool |

Re: Smoke I find this very unbelievable because pat thought they had to call the fire department and was very mad at how things went down. Everyone on the 3D line was warned any stupid stunt like this again and they would be kicking them out and having there AMA pulled. Plus there were many other pilots there that were better than this guy anyways |
