Re: Gaui on the way.

Sounds like a bad ESC to me (assuming you have swapped motors). Time to contact your dealer. Explain that you have isolated the variables and you believe that the ESC is bad. Ask for a replacement. In the meantime you might want to just order a replacement - that will probably get here sooner than a replacement (typical balking from dealer and time to process). Make sure you get the same make and model.

Good luck with that.

Re: Gaui on the way.

What kind of radio are you using? 72 or 2.4?
Some Futaba RX need filter on gyro channels but this only applies to the older 72 stuff.

Re: Gaui on the way.

Thanks guys...good to know that there's support here for me as this has gone from pure excitement to pure frustration.

I haven't changed the location of any of the motors but I have tried plugging them into different ports on the gyro. The motor that is plugged into the #2 port on the gyro is always the one that spins up first. The lead me to believe that the stock gyro was faulty so it has been replaced and the results are the same...so it must be an ESC.

Another thing to try is plugging each ESC into the receiver and initialize it separately before plugging all of those back into the Gaui Gyro.
I have tried initialising each of the ESCs one by one by plugging them into the throttle port on the RX and powering up at full throttle, waiting for the beeps and then chopping the throttle.

Thanks Jerry...done that quite a few times.

If so let start from the beginning; What gyro are you using? What speed controls? What radio mix and how are your dual rates set? Does your gyro have HH, digital servo option, ext/remote rate adjustment and limit adjustments?

Jerry everything is bone stock...Gaui 340 3 axis gryo and Gaui speed controllers. I have the TX set to airplane mode as per the instructions. Dual rates, expo, etc are all set to neutral in the TX.

One thing that it does has me puzzled : as I increase the throttle, #2 spins up first, then if I continue to increase the throttle to get the other 3 spinning (which they do at about half stick) the #2 motor conitinues to increase in speed on it's own. The thing seems to have a mind of it's own.

This is excalty how it worked for me.Couldnt beleive how easy (or maybe i got lucky) it was to program after reading all of the set up problems that people were having

Hope you get it worked out Mark, its alot of fun once you get it flying

Re: Gaui on the way.

Thanks MB,

I still have not been able to get all 4 to spool up at the same time. No matter which motor is plugged into #2, it spools up first...this lead me to believe that the gyro was faulty...it has been replaced but the results are still the same. I have calibrated the motors individually until the cows come home with no luck.

I do have this camera mount from Infiniti Hobby and plan t have the camera and battery on it if and when this thing ever flies. http://www.infinity-hobby.com/main/p...oducts_id=5635

I've spent so much time trying get this thing going that I'm beyond frustrated and have put it aside until my motivation returns.

Re: Gaui on the way.

I would suggest programming the ECSs all together, if you have problems getting the motors to spool up synchronously then do each one separately. The gear channel with the green wire plugged in controls the gain on the gyro. Basically that feeds the gyro with how much compensation to make to try and hoover the craft, too little and the craft will be unable to fly - too much and the craft will wobble uncontrollably in hoover - just enough and it will hoover perfect. For my setup I have gain at 45% in cruise mode (dx6i - travel adjustment - gear) - I couldn't get the hoover mode to work.

Battery placement seems awkward - I didn't have room for a battery, the gyro, and receiver on the same level. I would suggest purchasing a payload mount (in my case I just purchased extra main frame plates and used 450 spacers). You could probably customize something that would work as well with a bit of creativity.
