Re: Bremnar Jet and Warbird Rally Thanks Ron, landing needs some work but it feels great to be back at it. I got the SB all fixed up with a new nose retract (old one had some mileage and was jamming up) and fixed a small air leak. I also changed to the standard mains from the trailing link hoping for less sagging and a better takeoff roll. Unfortunately I'm away 2 weeks and it took 1/2 of Saturday to fix it which eliminated the possibility of flying. I'm trying to convince my wife to come home 1 day early so I can fly at the ERCS air show. Dave R - do you have a hi-res version of the Super Bandit landing above? It's not bad res as-is but higher would be even better. It's a great shot! I put it on my desktop. |

Re: Bremnar Jet and Warbird Rally Really sorry I missed the event. Didn't have my warbird ready and the jets weren't proven yet. I spent the entire weekend at the local field trying to get them ready. Found the F-15 doesn't like grass. Nose wheel bends back too easy and after a 1000 foot run it wouldn't rotate. Only managed to get one flight in. Next year for sure! Bob |

Re: Bremnar Jet and Warbird Rally Big thanks to Bob and Rick for organizing and the ladies for the amazing BBQ dinner! I had a really fun time. It's great to be back in the hobby, catching up with old friends and flying again. Bob helped me out coaching my landings on the Super Bandit. Finally after 4 years of sitting dusty on the shelf she got the first 10 flights. Best jet I have had by far. Better than my Pirotti Tuono which just got the maiden this summer too (which is saying something because it flies great too!) The Bandit is actually "easy" to land if you follow the standard procedure. Easy but not forgiving - like a jet should be. Flies like a dream pattern plane, its just totally locked in and grooves really well. Its REALLY fast with a EvoJet 130 in it and endless power Gyro going in this weekend to help with takeoffs and landing in cross winds. As always Jeremy's paint work is amazing - it got so many compliments. Looks fast just sitting on the ground... Lots of cool airplanes on hands both jets, turbo props and warbirds. Bremnar is a great jet flying field. Flat smooth grass, wide open spaces, multiple runway choices and a great pit area with on-site camping! Field of dreams! What more could you ask for? |

Re: Bremnar Jet and Warbird Rally Well said Allan, guys really do fly jets on the east side of the mountains, they are just not so vocal and more reserved and incredible pilots they are as well !!!!!!!!! The event was well organized ,, it was a novel idea to incorporate the jets and warbirds together, and the jet traffic was fast and furious, never heard one comment about grass to pavement and the jets all took off flawlessly, did here one say though, would not have gotten away with that on pavement!!!!!!!.The two runways, for change of wind direction was pretty slick..not many paved strips have that!!! hats off to the organizing team,,and hopefully this becomes an annual event, as you all know this was the feel it out year...it was felt out and your success was phenominal. The array of different aircraft was outstanding, the spectators were treated to something special here....The flight line will be large next year, gentlemen.. This will be a must attend event next summer... Again great success, and we will see you there next summer with some warbirds... |

Re: Bremnar Jet and Warbird Rally Yes thank you Bob, Bruce, Dave and all the other folks from the ERCS club for their fine hospatality and letting partake of ther beautiful facility. What a georgeous spot to fly model airplanes from. Definatley hidden gem for Alberta. Also what a nice mix of warbirds and jets that were at this event as well. I hope some pictures were taken, as I was too busy in the outlying areas of a jungle and swamp wadding. It was all just great and Jean and I had a wonderful time. Disppointed as usual about adjoining province pilot no shows and lack of support from my fellow jet pilots of the city I reside in. There was no problem getting any aircraft off this field as the way I see it. Remember fellows it takes a lot of work to put these events on and if you don't want to support their event, maybe they will think twice to make that long drive, to support your event. We have very few jet events in Western Canada anyways. Maybe time to get the lead out eh fellows. This could be more fleshed out more in another thread if people want to go down that road. Time for more of the positive though. It surely is a great bunch of people in the Edmonton ERCS club and ladies too, lets not forget what a great effort they put out for going the extra mile in the showers to present us with a great meal on Saturday. Thanks again ERCS and hope you make it an annual event. I will be there. Alan |
