Re: Fly Fly F-4

Hi Bob, did you fly your F-4, how did it go?

Anyone else have any updates as I ordered this F-4 kit today.
cheers!

Re: Fly Fly F-4

I'm thinking that I'll put a refinish job on this bird. I am getting the F-100 which will be dressed like a thunderbird and I don't need two planes in that livery. I'll just do a generic camoflage job. I modified the full flying stab's a bit. I didn't like the amount of play. The control rod goes into a plastic block and it is a very poor tolerance fit. I put a "bushing" in the block and then a "sleeve" over the rod. The "sleeve" outside diameter fits closely into the "bushing" and the result is a much more "slop-free" fit. I am going to re-do the ailerons too. With the belly landing the linkage will be subject to abuse since there are no wing tanks to land on, I figure busted servos are almost for certain. I put little skids on the wing bottom, but, the linkage being on top is a better solution I think. I'll put the linkages on top like in my old combat planes. With the camo. paint you won't hardly see them and in the air not at all. I'm going to get the Super Sabre tomorrow and should have a few to maiden once the weather gets better. My battery order got here from HK and I figure I have enough to do about 9 flights( 3 each on three different planes) without having to charge at the field. That's enough for me. Come On Summer.....

Re: Fly Fly F-4

ATM this this my most fav EDF to fly.
I'm sure 2400 watts on tap don't take away from joy, but the look of this bird in the air turns on something primal inside.
I'll try to upload some mode vids after this weekend if we don't get another rain-out.

Bob, Your F-4 looks great! Reading some of your post, I think back to when you were questioning your first EDF. LOL its so funny to watch as someone becomes addicted to EDFs and has to have one of each. hey! We're all happily guilty of it

Hi Bob

We all look forward to seeing you again at the 2nd EDF Jet rally.

Bob Last years event coverage in Model Airplane News got me my job as ACE reporter for the Canadain content section. This year Iam proud to say Model Airplane News asked me to cover this event for this year. I also got MAN to sponsor this event for JC

PS: So SMILE - This year I'll be doing some interviews with you and your buddies. I hope to upload to the magazine daily so they can use it on the MAN website like I did for E-Jets last year.

I envy the more "up sacle" types, but, it costs a whole lot more to go there. It's hard to beat these foamies for lots of fun at low cost. Anyway, I'll be ready this year with a few jets on the flightline. I couldn't afford too many toys as a kid, but, I'm making up for it now.

That thing looks great Bob,I've seen worse factory paint jobs

You had to ask....again Here they are..

You need a F-84f Thundersteak, a F-105 thunderchief, a T-38 Talon,and an F-16 Falcon
It's only 6 all together

Re: Fly Fly F-4

You all know I am not nearly as energetic as most of you guys, but, guess what? I have actually done a bit of work and my F-4 is done. I might have to put a couple of finger pockets in the bottom to assist with the hand launch, but other than that I'm good to go when flying season gets here. I have to confess I sort of lost the plot with this plane. I bought it simply because it was cheap. I will have to start being more selective in my purchase choices. I am accumulating almost as much stuff as I had with Gas and Glow and the pile of disused stuff is starting to grow. I put a 6 cell HET system in it and saved the new 8 cell to spice up the Sabre. I'll try to post a photo later. It looks good from afar, but is far from good finish wise. Anyway it will fly......
