Oh, and the museum is getting the Hurri for such a low price, because they are paying for material only, I'm donating all my time, and that of many helpers, and my shop facilities, cause this is just way too cool a build to pass up!

Hey, soon as I'm done the Hawker Hurricane, everyone can send in their orders for a non-flying replica, I'll gladly charge way less than $68,000. OK, not waaaay less, but a lot less! I told the Aviation museum, for $10,000, you'll get a museum quality replica Hurricane. For $20,000, a flying museum quality replica Hurricane. Building to the RAA specifications isn't all that difficult, just gotta do the reading. Powerplant is the big issue, you can fly a wooden replica spitfire on 300 HP, so a Jag V-12 (it's been done by Clive DuCros), and you're good to go. If you wanted full scale performance, then you're looking at Allison power, Merlins are just to pricey. Labour is the issue, but, having 25 years now in the CF, I'm getting very close to being able to retire, and live on part-time or low-wage income to support my RC and full-scale flying habits. Once I'm retired guys, I'd happily open up Dave's warbird factory, and I'd have a ton of very skilled military techs that would love to work part-time on the job. That's why the Stormbirds project at Paine Fd in Seattle was so successful, all the guys that built the 5 Me-262's were boeing guys, either retired, or working part-time for the fun of building them. Hmm, how about $80,000 for a Mossie? I'd kill to do a full scale mosquito! The Me-262 would be high on the wishlist as well!

I see the 109 has sold. I wonder who bought it and what they paid for it? The add said they would consider offers.

Hmm, in 2 years, when this one is done, I could build another, any takers? lol I'm actually thinking of building a Hurricane Cockpit, and setting it up for my Combat Flight Sim. A Spit would be nice too, but Hurricane's a bit roomier!
That's tempting. You mean you could build me a flying hurri for 20grand? Seriously- I would consider it!

He says it is not able to fly... Sounds like a challenge to me!

It is just an assumption, but I am thinking he was probably commisioned to build it for a museum, but the deal fell through? Again, just an assumption.

Cheers,

1:1 Scale Messerschmit Me109

Hey folks,
Have a look at this! Someone is selling a 1:1 scale model of a Tropical scheme 109. Right here in Alberta Canada!
Very nicely done with full cockpit. Weighs about 1 ton!
Think it could be turned into RC? Anyone have $69000.00 bucks?!?

Cheers,
Peter
