Re: Futureshop to Carry Traxxas RC Vehicles Was speaking to a friend of mine from corporate. He says Traxxas is here to stay on the shelves. They are actively pricing less than most local hobby shops and offering shipping for free on orders over $20. They will also price match. |

Re: Futureshop to Carry Traxxas RC Vehicles Dang. That might hurt the local hobby shops' holiday sales figures. Hopefully the amount of new people who are brought into the hobby from getting a Traxxas at futureshop will help the hobby shops that sell higher end items and other parts that FS doesn't stock. I guess we'll see. |

Re: Futureshop to Carry Traxxas RC Vehicles too bad the expensive one doesnt move that fast. im planning on scooping up a erevo from them soon since i have a bunch of giftcard. here is a question, is it bad or good to buy gift card on kijiji and instantly use them to buy a big item? you wont get scammed since u will get the product. |

Re: Futureshop to Carry Traxxas RC Vehicles Best Buy is struggling in the US due to competition from stores online stores like Amazon who sell almost everything under the sun. So, they've decided to take the same approach and now you can buy more than just electronics and appliances there as well. I think it's a good thing that hobby grade RC's are getting more exposure. It will introduce more people to quality RC instead of the normal crap you find at toys r us, best buy and radio shack/circuit city. I was in the LHS and happened to hear a call come in from a customer looking for parts for a toy grade heli and the shop worker explaining that parts just aren't available for most of them. The customer probably came in to the shop and ended up buying a hobby grade one. The ONLY concern I have is from kids/parents still thinking of them as toys not realizing the danger due to the speeds hobby grade RC are capable of and possibly use and care of lipos if they upgrade their battery. |

Re: Futureshop to Carry Traxxas RC Vehicles Exactly. If anything it might help the lhs. Parents who might never have taken their kid to a hobby shop do take them to BB and FS. The kid will see it, want it and there ya go. LHS gets to sell more parts / hop ups. |

Re: Futureshop to Carry Traxxas RC Vehicles BBFS having Traxxas isn't going to hurt LHS'. They simply don't and wont stock every part for every car like a lhs does. They cant... there's too many sku's for them, and not enough interest or knowledge from the staff. Future Shop sell their R/C stuff out of their entertainment department, which is usually staffed by the least experienced employees in the store, young kids that normally only stock DVD's and CD's that don't make commission, therefore have no interest in educating themselves about the product or pushing it. They also wont sell option parts, just replacements traxxas tells them the sell the most of, i.e. parts that break most. If anything it will bring more business to your lhs when people cant find the part for their new toy. This will then open new customers to your lhs and open a world of different brands and options to the new R/C customer. My biggest concern is that your LHS is staffed by arrogant losers that wont provide customers with service for vehicles bought at BBFS out of spite or simply don't provide quality customer service. That's gonna cost them because big box customers expect a certain level of service when they're shopping. LHS's could lose potential customers to the friendly happy staff that customers find at a Best Buy or Future Shop and use them a second option when parts are out of stock. I don't know about you guys, but good hobby shops are already hard to find, and most of them are filled with punk kids, grumpy old men, or people who don't know jack about the hobby. Maybe this is a good thing. If you're a lucky one with a good shop in your area, promote it and shop there, spend the extra $10 you could have saved online. That's the only way its going to stay open, and it has nothing to do with Future Shop |
