It's possible I switched a wire some place, but I was calibrating (or trying to calibrate) the ESC on my test rig. There wasn't that many wires to start with.

I am not trying to sound like a millennial, the fault is probably mine; however, the rig wasn't that complicated.

That's weird, are you sure all your connections are right??

Go over everything and double check. Almost sounds like a battery lead is backwards somewhere causing it to short maybe??

Yeah, I am glad I'm OK as well. I even got Johnny Bower's autograph. I am going to calibrate these new ESCs with the new motor before installing them into the quad. That said, I never did figure out what caused that one ESC to heat up and smoke like a campfire in the first place. I still scared I'll burn another one.

tporter416 I have the same kit from the same place. Took a bit to get tuned but is flying great now.

Glad your ok, that is serious having your lug nuts come loose. I bought a jack and a torque wrench years ago and do it myself. Never an issue...

Re: Might Have Burned My ESC

I have picked up both a new motor and a couple new ESCs. I'm running 20As right now but all they had from Emax's Simon series at Great Hobbies in Mississauga were 25A. They appear to be identical in size, and structure (as far as I can tell). I went with them over the new Emax BL Heli series (which they are fully stocked with) for fear of slightly different firmware causing a problem.

I also almost died for my car having loose lugnuts (me and my mechanic will be having a conversation Monday), and I randomly found The China Wall himself Johnny Bower signing autographs at my local LCBO... so yeah I'm having what they commonly refer to as one hell of a weekend.

You are probably better off to replace both, if you replace just the esc and it is the motor, you might fry another esc...

Once you let out the "magic smoke", its toast.

Hopefully the motor is still good, and its just the ESC that got fried.
