Re: Cooked my Mamba Monster

My son smoked his speed control as well, but that was his fault, he crossed the wires on his Lipo. we were lucky there was no fire!! He found a used one herein the classifieds no issues since. Even running 6s, that is until his crash tonight, but the speed control is fine no front end left the culvert won that fight!

hmm not sure what happened there i have 40 series tires on my e-maxx and the 2200kv combo it doesnt even get warm with 2 2c 5000 lipos, the esc has been plastic dipped to help with condensation but perhaps it was a defect im sure castle will help you out.

d'oh, mixed up posts. 4wd sc trucks definitely are considerably heavier than the 2wd stadium trucks the old 540 motors were designed around.

In a hyper 10SC Corr truck, not monster truck. I have a Castle 1515 in my 8ight though The Hyper 10 now has a Ballastic motor designed for the truck.

I love castle. Best warrant ever. I called them up and stated. "I ran 4 cells on my 4600KV while beating the ever living tar out of it. After a while the motor started smoking and then nothing" They replied that motor is only good for 2-3 cells. Your fried it, we will send you another.

Re: Cooked my Mamba Monster

Were you driving it in the snow and get the ESC wet? The Mamba Monster ESC is not waterproof like the brushed Traxxas set up. Perhaps condensation is to blame.

Re: Cooked my Mamba Monster

castle has one of the best warranties, contact them. depending on what version it was, there were some that had higher than normal infant mortalities. the only better esc is the new monster xl. the monster is rated at 120a continuous, 200 burst, you'll average way lower, about 50 or so.

there are always going to be a few that will get through qc, I'd just suggest contacting castle for a replacement.

Re: Cooked my Mamba Monster

Everything was set up the way Traxxas sells em. I never changed anything like tires or gears. Just ran it on the grass or out on the street. Not as rugged as advertised (obviously) but I thought it'd be better than this.

You think I just got a dud ESC or should I stay away from the Mamba all together? Seems to me there must be a better design out there I mean there isn't a whole lot of heat sinking for something that claims it can deliver 200A of current.
