I'm assuming when you say position hold you mean gyro Rate Mode vs Heading Hold ? If so, I would definitely split them up.

Yes, this is actually NORMAL when in Heading Hold. that is because when you are on the ground, the gyro is trying to apply heading hold but the tail isn't spinning. Once you spool up and the tail starts spinning, the gyro will put the servo in the right position to hold the tails steady for lift-off

Re: Throttle, and pitch curves?

I just use the bottom , middle and the high points the rest are inhibited that seems to work good and is easy to setup

Re: Throttle, and pitch curves?

With the TX - RX and Gyro on use a couple of points of sub trim, try each way left right until the servo stops hunting

Coltmart Ok "gray" I'm going with your set up for the test hover because yours was a 1-7 (futaba set up).. (though I'm waiting for some good weather) only issue is I could not get 47.5 on my pitch curve for position (3) so I went with 47. thanks everyone for the help as I am a noob with heli's though I could answer nearly any question on a nitro plane as that's my main area of interest. if anyone has any suggestions for my set up you feel could help me please by all means share them, thanks again.

Re: Throttle, and pitch curves?

The actual values will depend on your particular ESC, motor and even blades, but I can give you what I set on mine.

Unfortunately the 8U these were based on is also only 5 points. The upper and lower values should be the same with you tailoring the rest for your throttle/pitch response:

Throttle Pitch

Pos 1 19 10
Pos 2 31 28
Pos 3 50 44
Pos 4 75 68
Pos 5 100 75

NOTE: This was a belt tail. Not sure if that would have any affect over shaft.

Coltmart I have everything set up and the last step is my throttle curve 1-7 for my futaba radio. I know with spektrum it's 1-5 by my futaba radio shows 7 points

Coltmart Yes I have all the arms set to 90° and moving correct directions. That seems right for the throttle curve but don't I want some negative pitch too?

Re: Throttle, and pitch curves?

Servo arms to 90 Degrees when at mid stick
Blade pitch set at zero mid stick
-1 to +5 total should be enough

Throttle 0 25 50 75 100

Pitch 45 47.5 50 60 80
