I was thinking the same thing.
Would have been too easy to ruin the ESC with that mixup!

LUCKY!!

Okeedoke.

Re: Brushed motor/ESC issue

Hi all... You will be proud and not proud. I found the trouble.... ME !!!! I soldered the battery lead into motor, and motor into battery!!! I even did it twice with another ESC, just cut wire, solder same place... Then before powering it up... Wait a minute! It is inverted!!!!!!!!!!

So soldered my initial ESC the good way and all works fine!

Thanks for your help!

Re: Brushed motor/ESC issue

Very good idea with servo tester!

Re: Brushed motor/ESC issue

Do you have a servo tester?

I have tested several ESC's, both mine and friends using a servo tester when they seem to be acting funny.

Plug the ESC throttle into the servo tester and power up the ESC with a battery. The Servo tester will power up from the BEC power coming from the ESC. Then see if your min position on the servo tester = power off to the motor.

If the tester is at min and your motor still runs, it is definitely your ESC that is buggered. If the motor ESC are off when using your servo tester, then its a programming/endpoint issue with your radio/RX

Re: Brushed motor/ESC issue

Cougar: Yeah I usually never plug the ESC alone without receiver. I tried it afterwards.
Yeah warranty sucks specially when you had item on shelf for 1 year!!!!!!!!

Flypaper: If I understand what you mean, not exactly. I just want the ESC to behave normally. Motors is always on regardless is throttle is down or up, inverted or normal. So pretty sure it is faulty ESC.

Re: Brushed motor/ESC issue

I take it, the plane was bound with the ESC plugged in and throttle off. What you are doing essentially, is programming the ESC to shut the motor off when there is no signal.

Re: Brushed motor/ESC issue

That sucks. Trying to get warranty from HK is problematic, at best.

Regardless, in the future do not power the ESC without a receiver.

Re: Brushed motor/ESC issue

Hi, it is a Spektrum DX8.
Also tried reverse, same thing. Limits are at 100%.

Think the ESC is faulty

Re: Brushed motor/ESC issue

One more thing to check, but since we don't know the radio system this is a guess.

Ensure your throttle channel has the travel limits set to 100% each way. Also, if Futaba you have to set that channel to REV direction.

If that does not work sounds like you have a faulty ESC. I may have a brushed ESC in spares you can try, but believe it would be less than 30A.
