Re: Phantom 3 battery discharge

I just went over my P3 this weekend. Spring safety-check.

We finally got some nice weather coming. Batteries are sitting pretty at storage charge. Time to charge 'em up and do some flying!

Yeah, but I believe they will self-discharge after that point.

Re: Phantom 3 battery discharge

Okay thanks Max. Is it okay to store them at 90% for up to 9 days?

Re: Phantom 3 battery discharge

Yes.
It has built in circuitry to discharge the battery to storage voltage after sitting idle for 7 days.

This is to protect the expensive battery.

Lipo batteries must never be stored full charge. It will ruin them in short order.
Lipo batteries must always be stored at 50-60% charge. At that state they can be stored for long periods of time (years) without any damage to the battery.

I always fly my batteries out. That way when you are done flying, the battery is already at storage charge and can be put away safely.

Get into the habit of charging the night before or the day-of any flights.

Does the phantom 3 battery discharge after the set amount of days to 65% even if it's not full?
