Re: BME58 Testing Thread Trev you want to make sure your reeds are as stiff as the stock ones so they don't flutter at the higher RPMs soft reeds for low end torque motors and stiff reeds for high RPM motors. if the reeds are a bit softer than the factory ones it will prevent it from revving as high or making as much good power up top. just saying. I'm just in the process of rigging up my telemetry on the 18MZ right now and I hope by tonight to have voltage, cylinder temperature and rpm configured. I will also be installing the Falcon 23x8 CF this time instead of the Falcon 24x8 CF. Tom at BME was very insistant that the BME's like smaller props with lots of revs to get max thrust.... his recommendation was a Mej23x8 on the BME58 and a Mej27x10 on the BME116, even on tuned pipes. His recommendation was low to mid 7000's! I found it ran well on the 24x8, but certainly doesn't have the torque of the other in it's class which jives with his suggestions. Fingers crossed, I'd like to get some more fuel through it on Monday next week |

Re: BME58 Testing Thread be interesting to see the difference in how it runs with the Bowman rings compared to stock rings |

Re: BME58 Testing Thread Last night I brought the Pilot Edge / BME58 back down in the shop and gave it a good lookover. The pair of Bowman Rings (the BME takes 2) came in so I swapped them out. You can see from the photo, how the stocks are spread apart more than the Bowmans, meaning more tension on the cylinder walls than the Bowmans (more friction). I also measured the end-gaps once in the cylinder.... Stock - 0.004" Bowmans - 0.002" This is one of the tightess end-gaps of stock rings I've seen so far!.. great work BME Except for a bit less friction, I doubt there'll be any increased compression with the Bowmans. |

Re: BME58 Testing Thread Will be going in a older 75cc AW Yak. Got a crazy deal on it from Lorne. No room for pipe, and I really don't thin I would need one with this combo anyways...... Cheers Derrick |
