Chances are if you fly in a park and not cause a problem no one is going to complain. No complaint no reason for an officer to go out of his way to call you on it. Can he? Absolutely. Draw attention to the fact you’re breaking a bylaw he has the tools to deal with you. The path he chooses is the officer’s discretion. Same as an officer stopping you for speeding. Warning, ticket for the offence or reduced ticket so you don't lose points.

Are you really having a hard time comprehending this?????????? I mean even our 12/13 year old members in the club get it when they ask if they can fly their foamies at the local park.

Take our hobby. How many of you started out with free flight/control line? RC was a pipe dream when I was a kid. I didn’t know MAAC existed but a few of us flew regularly at the corner park. Started when I was 11/12 and flew off and on until I left home and went in the Airforce. In all that time there must have been a couple dozen kids come and go and some adults as well. We never interfered with other users of the park and heaven forbid hurt or endanger others. Police Officers would often sit in their cars at the curb and watch us.

Skip to a few summers ago and there is now 3 or four baseball diamonds in that park. It’s used for tournaments over weekends during the summer. During one of these tournaments a father and two sons ages 9/10 or so pull up and park, climb out with the two family dogs not on leashes and the kids have a couple of those air hogs. I saw at least three times these air hogs ended up in the infield stopping the game. The umpire finally walked over and explained that the gentleman needed to take the kids, dogs and the airplanes to the other side of the park where there were no games being played. He refused after all it’s a public park. Umpire called the game until a police officer attended the scene and made the father and sons leave.

The problem isn’t the drones/uav’s or whatever you want to call them. It’s the mentality or lack thereof the operators who are so self centered they have no consideration for others. They ruin it for us and for the responsible drone/uav operators.

Ask yourself which one are you?????????

The time I have seen municiple bylaw enforcement can be counted on one hand and the times we have requested it for our street parking problem and the have actually shown up is pitiful

And your point being????? Just because its a MAAC club doesn't guarantee 100% safety. Errors and mistakes happen. Each club should be addressing these as they become obvious. Only a fool uses the analogy that mistakes and errors in judgement on the part of a few invalidate the safety efforts of a club or organization.
