to allow air to escape. The acetone softens the glue on the covering and you have some time to work with it. The wetter you spray the acetone the longer you have to work with it but the glue can run if you get it too wet. Also the wetter you get it, the longer it takes for it to form a solid bond. It is a good idea to let it dry 48 hrs before using it as it takes the acetone a long time to migrate out of the glue as it cannot evaporate through the mylar.
I am looking forward to trying it out in the next few days...

So once you mist the adhesive side, you lay it on the part, and I assume you squeegee it down to eliminate air bubbles? How much working time to I have, since I know acetone evaporates very quickly?

Use a spray bottle and mist the glue with acetone. Use a fine mist sparingly, allow a minute to activate the glue then apply.

acetone free nail polish works great on ultracote

supposedly blue windex activates the glue in monokote (but not in ultracote) so useful in attaching mono to mono.

Mylar on top of Mylar- Techinques/Solvents?

I want to do some artwork with mylar on top of mylar (Monocote on top of Monocote, Ultracote on top of Ultracote..etc..)

A long time ago I bought a bottle of solvent from my LHS that you applied to the second layer of mylar, it dissolved it onto the first layer and gave a good and bubble free (sorta) bond withut ironing.

I haven't seen that stuff in a long time. Is it still made? is there an alternative solvent?
I am sure I can manage on my own without it and just use the iron-on technique, but given the knowledge base of the members on this forum, I would like to hear how others have tackeld this problem and perhaps learn of some different techniques. I heard a fellow modeler once used windex, but i'm not sure of the method.

Any ideas would be appreciated
