Re: Matador 60 four stroke

That sounds like it is going to be a veryy interesting project.

I'm looking forward to following this build thread, Andrew.

Re: Matador 60 four stroke

Yeah I will post a few pics.

I did quite a bit of metal work threads back in the early days of RCC but they didnt get transfered on a server change years back. I have made dozens of engines, mainly diesels and ignition, some glows and a lot of twins as well. But just one four stroke. I want to try more four strokes.

Definitely need a build thread on this if you decide to proceed. I've often thought I'd like to build an engine but just never seem to have the time and equipment both at once

Very interesting nevertheless. Please keep us posted.
That would be just as cool if not cooler of a design...

Re: Matador 60 four stroke

I discovered something else now... some guys who have the Matador drawings, say its a poppet valve four stroke driven by gears off the crankshaft...

But the photo in the magazine clearly shows (to me anyhow) what appears to be a rotary valve head design with a belt driven valve.

I guess I will find out when the drawings come in the mail!

Re: Matador 60 four stroke

Will do... I saw that RCM&E archives also has plans for some other engines. But, I have always wanted to build a flyable rotary four stroke. I built my own, several years ago, that ran but was less than ideal (coulndt get it to idle well).

ANyhow, the drawings have been sent and I will hopefully get them in a week or two.
