I guess it's impressive. However to me, who in their right mind would be flying over that muddy bog, and doing such intense flying with guys filming it less then ten feet away. One broken link and the camera man would be picking teeth up for a week. Not a wise choice. Lucky he didn't hit anyone.

Nice save and all. But who in the heck would build a deck, assuming it's attached to a house, next to a methane spewing mud swamp???

Re: ESC Shutdown and autorotation - Best save ever

What I find amazing is that the heli was quite far at a lower level. He lift it and brought it all the way with just the momentum (Horizontal traject, no gain of energy)

Re: ESC Shutdown and autorotation - Best save ever

In a field, he would just look to set it down.

Here, he had about 3 seconds to realize he'd lost power and needed to bring it up from water level, over a railing, and onto to a platform big enough. Not everyone would be so composed to pull a 700 size heli toward themselves and whoever else was on the deck.... with one shot to use whatever momentum was available.

Safety decisions aside... It was a pretty impressive save.

Agree with Max. Great flying, pretty rough save.

Re: ESC Shutdown and autorotation - Best save ever

I wouldn't exactly call it "best save ever". A pilot of that caliber could have done a lot better than that.

Some pretty exiting flying prior to the crash though
