Re: TF P-47 ARF Scale Project.

I see

I know there is a kill switch on my radio, I thought It had to do with a certain way to make the rod and link work with the carb.

I now understand how this can work! Im away right now but thatll really be the last part to buy for the plane and then maiden next year. Till then I will finish my royal corsair and maybe maiden two birds!

Thanks again.

Dave, Your manual for the DX8 should show on and where you can assign your engine kill, (most times it's the trainer or dead man switch) But as for the opto kill, Rcexl in particular makes one, & Evolution is another. (Same thing different name in my books),These switches are easy to install, they go between the ignition module & the receiver. They come with instructions & for $20 bucks who could go wrong. Everyone who runs gas with electronic ignition should for safety use these. I use Rcexl's in my TF 60 size Jug with an Evo 20cc.

Re: TF P-47 ARF Scale Project.

Thanks for the heads up and the kind comments.

I was unable to maiden again this year cause I had to go work away for the moment but as soon as the snow clears its happening.

I haven't heard of that switch so Ill check it out. And its not anywhere to be found in the manual so its new to me. On my smaller models I just put my finger on the carb but that's weak sauce and I have to get away from those methods.

Thanks again and Ill keep you posted.

Hi Dave. First of all beautiful plane you have got going, second, what kind of radio are you using? It may be somewhat late for a response on your problems, but check your manual on how to set up your throttle cut. And here is a question for you, If you are using a gas engine have you not heard of a opto kill switch? Because you can't always rely on the throttle to shut down the engine. There is several of these switches on the market, good prices and peace of mind when the time if it ever comes if you have to shut down your engine in an emergency. For more info check out some different threads on gas engine setups.

Re: TF P-47 ARF Scale Project.

Looking for guidance here guys.

I have done all my flight checks and here are the results.

Plane at idle creeps forward and I cant trim down. Is this an needle?

Also once I land Ive never assigned engine cut off before? HOW DO I DO THAT???

Dave.

Re: TF P-47 ARF Scale Project.

The CG is tail heavy which is surprising considering the G20EI up front. So the rx battery is moving up front along with some weight and we should be good!

Tomorrow Ill take some pics as we make sure her final flight checks.

Retract servo is good to go.

Had issues with the gas tank and I need to pick up some mini zap straps! Tubes came loose and that a no, no.

Also ran the air intake next to the fuel intake so they are located at the scale drain cock locations. Best I could do minus making a hidden hatch!

Re: TF P-47 ARF Scale Project.

Power was the issue.

Got the throttle good to go and open all the way so next on the list will be Friday.

Install retract servo and clean up the inside with battery, air intake for retracts and on off switch with a CG.

Its happening this weekend ladies!

Re: TF P-47 ARF Scale Project.

Great news,

The issue was the battery pack. Not too sure why but I pulled an old one from the garage I hadn't used in over a year and it worked just fine. Plugged everything in and Im in business.

Of all the working servos the throttle is still giving me issues! It can move but the arm isn't moving all that much. Its on the table for tomorrow. Would love to maiden this week but it just seems like one issue after another. Better to have a bird with no issues on maiden then a potential disaster!
