Re: first edf?

Hobby King Stinger 64. Good on 3S, ballistic on 4S. Easy to hand launch. On rails in the air. I've had a Habu and the Stinger is much better IMHO. My 4S Stinger would whoop my 5S Habu all day long..........so says the telemetry. Cheaper and better all around. You'll love it if you get one. Even if its not your first EDF, I'd still recommend it to anyone. the Dons Wicked combo is perfect for the Stinger, but stock is almost as good. Just not balanced well.

Re: first edf?

Yes, I've seen the Habu plenty of times... and she looks like a goodie. With the older Habu out of production now, and the new one coming out with the "bare airframe" not available just yet... i'm holding off on it for now...

TEX: Where did you pick up your Phase 3 F-16? That has some really good reviews on it.. looks like it flies well too

Re: first edf?

I have the KMP T-33, nice little foam EDF with very visable colors. HK has one in Blue, but the same plane. Anyways, the T-33 flies very well on a 3 cell 800 pack. quite stable, not real fast but good enough to give a person a feel of a EDF. trainer like really.

Re: first edf?

I've had, and still have lots of EDF models, and I have to say that the Phase3 F-16 is still a favourite. Easy hand launches and very stable. Tex

Re: first edf?

Been wondering about this myself. Don't think I'm ready just yet, but certainly interested in what suggestions folks have. KMP has a smaller T-33 which looks interesting, and of course there's the ParkZone Habu...

Re: first edf?

Just my 2cents, my first edf was this t-45 from KMP.
Hand launches not bags of power. I modified the servo arms and horns so the linkages are on the top of the wing not the bottom like the original.
This way I get no damage from belly landing.

Re: first edf?

It all depends on what you want to do. Do you want to hand launch or takeoff from a runway (grass or tarmak). Do you feel very confident with your current aircraft? Foamies make fantastic EDF's especially if you are newer simply because they are gentle to fly.

Depending on price, this is a great first jet. Very easy to fly and the electronics tend to work right out of the box (which is rare). It's also not a total dog in the air powerwise. The hobbyking 69 dollar F-18 will probably fly like crap with zero power.

another great flyer is this...

Just don't get sucked into the super cheap EDF's. You will experience dissapointment, heartache, and a big hole in your wallet as the electronics will be junk.

first edf?

Been flying for just over a year now... started with the Supercub, then T-28,P-47, Stryker Q etc...

Would like an EDF Jet... what would you suggest?
Not to cheap out, but HK has a nice F-18 for $69... thoughts?
