Re: Let the rebuild begin

I am glad to hear you're making progress. We'll be at the field tomorrow, if you make it out. I got ten flights in today, but I am still not flying as well as before the crash. I might maiden my new airplane tomorrow.

Re: Let the rebuild begin

Well, you're going faster than me. I just spend two hours wondering why the heck my transmitter wouldn't talk to the governor of my Futaba CGY750. I did buy the gyro used and started wondering, is something not working right on it? So I pulled out another one that I had and sure enough it worked. I thought son of a **. I'm going to have to swap it out and set everything up again. Then it finally hit me. I connected the old one back up, went back into the SBUS settings on the gyro and sure enough, the channel for controlling the governor was disabled. I enabled it and all is well.

So... time to take it out and see if the thing starts and get my idle parameters set. So I pulled off the blades, mixed up some gas. Three pulls with choke on, one pull and running. Idling a bit fast at first, then leveled off. Set perfectly, no adjustments required.

I'm really hoping to get out flying soon. Been so damn busy, so many things to do, I have a feeling my first flight of the season will be at SHAG LOL.

Re: Let the rebuild begin

I got in three test flights today. Bird is flying well. Maybe some fine tuning on the FBL unit. I will likely go out tomorrow for more flights.

Re: Let the rebuild begin

Looking good.

I'm just going through the gyro settings on my backup tonight. Hopefully test fire the engine tomorrow and get the idle settings right. Going to pull the blades off to do that. Hate the thought of that thing beating me to death LOL.

Re: Let the rebuild begin

I had a good afternoon today and finished the build on the 700E. I have gone through the iKON set up, but will verify pitch settings with the Sokol tool. I have to tidy up the wiring and set the throttle limits in the ESC and verify the ESC settings before a test spool up. Getting closer.

Re: Let the rebuild begin

Canada Post delivered my order this afternoon. The box is unmarked and the address is correct. I was able to build the head and mainframe tonight. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon I can finish the assembly so I can set up the iKon FBL unit and the ESC on Thursday and test fly by Friday. I am going away for business next week, so I want this heli ready for SHAG at the end of this month.

Re: Let the rebuild begin

I've had that happen with Canada Post. The short story is, somebody didn't want to deliver it before a long weekend and wanted off early on Friday. You should see it tomorrow.

I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't even been out yet. Too busy with other crap. Although today I've been working on the final settings on my backup machine. Just need to put the pitch gauge on for verification, get some gas, take the blades off for a test fire of the engine to set the idle (a nice precaution so I don't beat myself to death), then it will be ready for the first test hover to see if anything shakes loose.

Let the rebuild begin

On Mother's Day, I put my Trex700E V2 into the ground. I made a pass right to left, pulled up into a loop and pulled out of the loop for an inverted pass. The heli wouldn't pull out, even though I was giving forward cyclic and negative collective. I tore down the heli last Sunday evening and made a parts list. My order was to arrive on Friday as per Canada Post tracking. The parcel arrived in Regina on Thursday afternoon. Normally, the parcel is delivered the next day. At 1:30 pm on Friday, Canada Posted updated the status to "On Hold pending verification of receivers address" I called 15 minutes later to give my address and tracking information. I was told it may take up to 5 business days to deliver. My address info is 100% correct on my RotorQuest invoice and shipments have always arrived without an issue. I had everything tore down, de-greased, re-lubricated, and re-assembled where possible. I was planning on finishing and test flying by today. Canada Post better deliver tomorrow!
