Exactly! All you need is one border guy with some half baked ideas about the law and you are hooped! Fingers crossed that they get the system fixed before June.....

Well so far it looks like the only one you can run afoul of is the FAA if they choose to show up at the field. It would be nice if they got the registration thing straightened around.

Yes, I checked with MAAC, contacted Tony Eberts.

Hello David.

Yes, the coverage we have does not have any restrictions.

Regards,

Tony

My buddy in Sarasota was told the same thing. As far as the AMA is concerned they are not going to police foreign nationals or their own members for the proper FAA registration at this time. It does not affect their insurance coverage. Word of caution from the club and AMA is that it does not fulfill your responsibility to register. The FAA can still charge you with failure to register and whatever consequences go along with that. Possible confiscation/seizure of your models etc. It was also mentioned that since it is a requirement to follow the rules/laws of the host country would MAAC insurance cover you if you fail to register? Has anyone bothered to check with MAAC?

And they wouldn't face any persecution from the authorities here like they are imposing on you!

Yeah but do the "Big Dogs" reciprocate? Like a $.69 dollar, hell we would almost be payin' 'em to head up this way.

Maybe this IS a golden opportunity to enhance our hobby here at home! Let's expand our functions and contests here with the difference in the dollar as incentive too!

Sorry Gordon!
