Re: RCGF 20cc VS DLE 20cc

yes the question was about the 20cc but i decided to go with the 30cc at the end... thanks for the input Jimmy, but at this point... I already made the investment.
I could always pass this engine to a larger plane later on so i figured why not?! :P
so far everything seems to be fine, i'll let you know after the first flight, haha

Re: RCGF 20cc VS DLE 20cc

well...not trying to tick you off. But the two planes are only 1 lb apart and the engines are 1 lb apart with is 33% more weight for the engine and 1 extra hp for the excessive wing loading you have now placed on this airframe. The decathlon wing is not a hi lift wing either by the way. I had thought the question was on the dle 20 anyways not vs a dle 30 but a knock off of the 20, my original answer would have been dle 20 excellent choice, have fun hope it flys well, let us know.

how many lbs did your yak turn out to be ?

also your prop is to big 18/8 to run it in for the first few tims then i would go to a 19/6
I haven't had a chance to weigh it yet, once i'll do ill have it posted.

as for the prop, I hear many different opinions about it, I have a few prop sizes, so i'll be playing around with that to figure out what will work best.
the one I have on is mainly for the picture

Re: RCGF 20cc VS DLE 20cc

I think most of the comparisons here must have been done to an early version of the RCGF because the new version looks like an exact copy of the DLE. Mind you these RCG 20's have just come on the market I believe, so I'm not sure people have put any abuse on them to see how they will hold up. The RCG20 is $40 bucks cheaper than the DLE20 at Hobby King, problem is the DLE's are never in stock and from what I hear won't be anytime soon. The RCG20 is only $159 from Hobby King so for under a couple of hundred you could land one. Here is some pics of the two engines. The DLE20 is on the left and the RCG20 is on the right. Kind of tough to tell them apart.

Re: RCGF 20cc VS DLE 20cc

no it will fit great i have a spe 25 in mine and it is bigger than the dle 30

like i said before mine with the 25 cc sucks it needs just a bit more power to do any 3d stuff

but if you wanna fly around and do some loops and rolls the dl 20 would be fine

Re: RCGF 20cc VS DLE 20cc

Thanks everyone, looks like the DL is a winner...

I will be looking at the 30cc option as well... but would it be too big for this plane?
