The gas motor that I can put my hands on right now is a crrc GF 26 I comes with ignition and exhaust for 100 bucks cheaper than the OS is it a good choice or should I just wait it out?
Terry,

Set aside for awhile the quest for the "perfect/allpurpose" motor and pick up an inexpensive used motor that will fly your present plane and other trainer/novice planes just fine.... and get flying. And if you crash it into concrete, no $300 or $400 engine loss.

For example, here is one 40 minutes away from you by Max, who is an instructor in the Aurora club so you have good assurance about the motor; and yes, it's not impolite to offer a bit less than the asking price (smiley):

And it is nice also that you can also get longer cables for the remotes and locate them in various places in the planes.

Re: im a fixed wing guy now

yes David, the 9020 comes with 2 remote receivers. The guys at the club recommended it for the same reasons. they also pointed out that it would also allow me to run a separate servo for the nose gear with its own travel and speed adjustments, besides its not like I have another plane to use it in just now. one o the guys at the club suggested and after he explained it to me decided top let him do. The model was built by one of the old school builders in the club (he's 70+) and it uses wooden dowel pushrods for the rear surfaces. well when we tried functioning those surfaces at the points where the servos would be sitting there was some binding problems on the elevator so we moved the elevator servo to the tail with a much shorter pushrod, that in turn allowed us to center the rudder pushrod so it has plenty of clearance and freed up a servo mount hole in that board I made for that separate nose gear servo. he also noticed a couple of other issues I should tend to. There is a substantial gap between the wing and the ailerons and they have a small amount of play because the control rods were not secured properly, he said that could cause aileron flapping and suggested removing and rehanging the ailerons and hot glue the control rods after. He also said the tail rudder could be a bit small but also said that would be easy to make and mount a larger surface if needed, it may fly fine as it is. The engine and My dx9 didn't arrive on Friday like I was told so it will be in the order for this Friday so I have the rest of the week to make the mods and be ready to install the engine Friday. Not sure I will get it in the air this weekend though, there is a jet fun fly at the Wingham airport this weekend and I intend to go out to watch those babies fly.

Re: im a fixed wing guy now

You can put extra satellite Rx's on the 9020 (they are actually separate Rx's, not just antennae) for better reception redundancy which is great with fixed wing as you will likely fly farther away than with fling-wing, and it easy to swap out, and you could set up a separate nose wheel servo with it's own travel adjustment right in the radio.......

Re: im a fixed wing guy now

All my parts are here today Also arriving is the DX9 black edition with case and receiver. question. the DX9 comes with a AR9020 9-Channel DSMX X-Plus Receiver. should I bother installing that on this trainer or should I just stick with one of the 2 AR400's that I already have. Seems like a bit of a waste to use the 9 channel and after I learn to fly and consider selling this plane I wont miss the receiver. mind that it really wouldn't be hard to swap it out if I wanted to sell it. Just let me know if there would be any advantage to using the 9 channel in this trainer would be nice . thanks guys in advance.
