Re: Can I use Car fuel for my Airplanes you can run any glow fuel as long as you tune it. |

Re: Can I use Car fuel for my Airplanes Most car fuel is 20% nitro but 12 oil if it's backyard basher then you should be fine as it's 18 nitro and 20 oil |

Re: Can I use Car fuel for my Airplanes Remember the more nitro the sooner it detonates. So most all racers are using tuned pipes and less compression or else over time odd things happen that are not nice. |

Re: Can I use Car fuel for my Airplanes Sorry for the late entry here, I understand the problem has been resolved, however, I'd like to shine some light on why CAR fuel has less oil than PLANE fuel when the engines are almost identical. High RPM's do not cause much wear. Pressure causes wear. Car engines rev at high rpm's, but with relatively low manifold pressure. They're revving high but not necessarily working all that hard. Plane engines on the other hand, especially 4 strokes, run at fairly low rpm's but due to the need to turn a propeller, must develop higher manifold pressures in order to make their power. In other words, to make a car go better, rev it higher. To make a plane go better, put a larger prop on it and turn it slower(requiring more PRESSURE, and thus more oil in the fuel). Hope this clears things up a bit. Cheers! |

Re: Can I use Car fuel for my Airplanes Like the guys say better to just sell it and screw with adding castor to bring the oil content up. |

Re: Can I use Car fuel for my Airplanes Hi Ross I just got My head out of the shop project and saw this thread, I have been using 30% heli fuel now for six years in all My two and four stroke engines and you know My four strokes are all Saito. One reason I use the heli fuel is due to the recommended oil content, I haven't got a jug handy right now but if I recall the 30% heli fuel is 23% synthetic oil as recommended by Saito. My 115 in the Funtana 50 is the ripper and the 180 hauls the 110 Rascal unlimited vertical. I wouldn't add castor if you use it in your Saitos and synthetic might be hard to find here. Brian T. |
