Re: Mike Milos MIG 21 test flown

2 factors to consider, 2 engines are rated with static thrust, but dynamic thrust trends may differ a great deal. 2nd is that drag is a sqared relationship vs velocity, meaning to double the speed you'll need (2^2) or 4x the thrust.

I've had 4 turbines on my hotspot, and the lack of dynamic thrust was pretty clear on one of them. The turbine had 1.5 lb more (rated) thrust, but it was visibly slower. That was a PST 1300R. It's got a P-120 SX now and 220 mph is easily doable without prolonged use of full power... It took a few flights to get use to it.

I'm helping a few friends out, who now own pauld's old flash. Seems like a nice entry level option to get one's feet wet in turbines, and still have the top end potential when they're ready for it.

Re: Mike Milos MIG 21 test flown

Experimenting with some speed runs on Classic Flash today.

Have been flying with Rabbit 100 (22lbs) in it and getting 290KPH on GPS. Pulled Rabbit and put in Cheetah (31lbs) got 351kph. Surprising that almost 50% more power gives only an extra 60kph.

Mine is not fully bypassed, using only the front part of the bypass (ducting) GPS is of course ground speed but winds were light today, maybe 10kph.

Just for info., the B100F puts out 27 lbs thrust compared to 22 lbs that other 100 size engines put out. Its about the size of a p100.

That's really impressive on a 100. Wow.

Dean W just built one with a Jetcat 100. Be interesting to see what it does.
