Re: Thinking of a Quad and Fat Shark

Thanks for the tip Gord I do have a QX and that was what started my new love affair with quads. That Qx is such a blast, it flies in wind I often wouldn't fly my 500 size heli in and never fly my 450 in. I'm going slow on this pricey one though because I want to do the FPV thing and I want to do it right.

Since you are on a budget (aren't we all?) you might consider buying a small, inexpensive quad and learn to fly it before investing some serious change in a more sophisticated quad.....!

When (not if) you crash, the costs will be minimal and repairs will be easy....consider the Blade mQX....it has AS3X and can take a lot of punishment (I know!) during your progress through the learning curve!

Just a beginner too!

Great Stuff, Jim.

Do you have a quad yet? Get the GLB x525 quad for $120, includes everything you need, + FREE shipping. It even comes with a KK board that you can sell to someone for a couple of bucks..LOL

That GLB525 is what I have my Naza in. So far its the best flier of my pile of quads and hexa's It does the job.

Re: Thinking of a Quad and Fat Shark

Interesting stuff guys. The Naza I have coming has the GPS module and controller as a set now if I bought them separate the cost would be around $280. As was stated I really prefer stability and high speed with this won't happen, if I need speed I have the Blade QX and MCXP those I can afford to pile up.

For the exact reason Max mentioned.....im not looking at what is cheap and affordable...im looking at what Jim can easily setup and fly without the frustration he will encounter with the setting up of other controllers. I think the naza is perfect for Jim.

For about $50, you can get a Ublox gps and have PH and rth, way cheaper then the DJI products and much better processor. GPS hold and rth are cool options but not really needed. Practice, is what will make you a good pilot. manual flying is always good. After a while of just hovering around, it will get boring. The need for speed will kick in and the gps and auto level will not be used. Just my 2c.

Here's a vid of my QAV500 and naze32 FC. I was flying in rate mode, gyros only. Super smooth.

These are great options. But Jim has a hard time flying helis these days and needs the stability and PH features to help him out when he is in a jam.

The other problem is programming the FC. Naza is really user friendly- the best I have seen so far. This will also be beneficial to Jim or anyone else who has limited computer skill. It is intuitive so anyone will be able to figure it out and use it. What kind of software is needed to program the naze32? Is it easy to operate like the Naza software or does it need you to have some computer skills to figure it out?
