Re: Falcon 120. PST J600R Turbine. FLOWN!!!! VID!

I had to swap to a FADEC ECU to cure the shut down problems on my PST 600... seemed to happen always and only when diving to do a fast pass. I ended up dialling max RPM down to 150k to solve flame outs but performance was average. Only viable solution was to swap ECU/RPM sensor to FADEC the TEM's ecu was to bulky in design and troublesome in my PST. Ive since sold this turbine and the second owner has had trouble free operations also with thr FADEC modified PST.

Cheers- Marty

Paul,

I've made a bunch of modifications since I got it with ease of use in mind. It was taking about 20 minutes straight of screwing around to get it all together and flyable when I received it. I wasn't happy. Plus you couldn't take the booms off and keep them attached to the elevator because they were much too weak.

But that's all changed now. The booms were reinforced major with carbon fiber toe and hysol and the elevator was reinforced as well. So it all comes off as one piece and stays that way. I then redid all of the wiring in the jet where it connects with the booms so that I only need to plug in 4 connections total. And finally I changed the wing bolt area for easy access as it was pretty much impossible before to even get in there. It's simple now.

The jet fits in my buddies Ford Ranger with the wings attached as long as it's sideways so it was just the boom that needed to come off. On a full sized truck I won't need to break it down at all so overall I am happy. As it stands, it's less than 5 minutes at the field to get her bolted together now and airworthy.

Glenn,

Glad to hear you are getting comfortable with this thing. Hope u get lots of fllights with it.

When I looked at these before, I was surprised at the way they came apart. I am thinking a big help would be a piece of plywood with some mounting points so you could remove the whole tail assembly as one piece and transport it on the plywood jig. I think this would save a bunch of time/hassle.

A few more pictures to go along with the others I just posted showing the now sealed wheel wells to prevent airflow problems. Also a little fun I had with some left over red covering. It can be removed in a second if I choose to but I like having fun with my aircraft and I love this country.

Just some pictures as I realized there aren't any in this thread. I fixed the blemishes on the covering and just snazzed it up a bit. Only thing I haven't done is put any kind of decals on her.

Sorry for the crappy lighting in my garage but you get the idea. The jet cleaned up REALLY nice.

I remember you teaching me that when I just shut the F-16 down. I'll make sure to do that as well on the Falcon.

I went ahead and reinforced the boom area's that I felt were weak with hysol and carbon fiber toe. This jet may fail for some reason in the air but it sure won't be the booms now! Before there was a very noticable twist motion with the smallest of pressure but that is long gone now. No real measurable weight was added.
