Awesome Plane! My first reaction at viewing the photo was "That's NOT a model!" I agree, it is priceless in one sense, but I shudder to think of what it wouls actually realize on the open market.

Thanks for the input...might have to thin the fleet one day and was thinking this one might be one to go... Just don't when...
That is the model taken at First Lake Float Fly in Naniamo BC about 4 years ago..

Re: What is it worth..

The sad truth is hobby items are always subject to the whims of the market. As an example, when I quit shooting competition, I was lucky to get about 30 cents on the dollar for some very good equipment. Model gear is in the same boat unfortunately.

Very good scale detail and great photography to imitate the real thing. What's it worth?...priceless to the builder/owner....to everyone else the price will vary a lot due to how much each person values the detail and how badly one wants it.

Looks great.

Re: What is it worth..

Hey Darren,

The airplane you saw/helped me fly at the Shuswaps this year I sold for 900. Not enough IMO but I would say this is a good benchmark for you in terms of what you could get as an actual sale value.

It's worth a lot more if you had to build one from scratch again.....

Cheers,

Paul

Re: What is it worth..

All of this is a very interesting conversation but I do have a question...

Where is the photo of YOUR model Husky??

The attached photo is of a full scale AC, not a RC model.

What does the RC model look like?

Re: What is it worth..

Gorgeous picture.

My suspicion is that unless you can find a buyer who is fascinated with owning this unique model AND can work out a way of delivery of the model, you are looking at the resale value of parting out the engine/muffler, electronics with probably less than $200 for the airframe.

Since coming back into the hobby a couple of years ago it has been amazing to me how little complete models - apart from several categories such as composite e-gliders and one third scale acrobatic models - sell for, either online or at swap meets.

A big issue is overcoming the 'local pick up only/cannot or will not ship' that restricts the circle of potential buyers.
And that probably requires some heroic measures such as posting on the U.S. forum - with lots more photos or access to them - and offering to work with potential buyer on how to do shipment or pick up at a water fun fly in the future.
If you were interested in doing that I would put a price of $1000 U.S. plus shipping.

good luck

Re: What is it worth..

Hi Darren, I buy and sell a lot of airplanes, both models and full size, and the one thing I have to keep reminding people is that it is only worth what someone else will give you for it. One guy may think it's worth $500, while another may give you $1000. If you're looking for a value for insurance purposes, I would suggest something in the neighbourhood of $3000.
I hope this helps.

Re: What is it worth..

Putting a value on anything is difficult, I lol a lot at the prices people are asking for on some of the airships being offered on this site.

Realistically, it's as valuable as much as someone thinks it's worth.

I could see spending at least $700cdn for that model with Engine and servos. (do a quick calculation of how many servos, the motor, muffler, then the model of equal size.) Gives you a ball park as to what it's worth. $400 - $500 without power plant or electronics.

30 bux a lbs? lol.

Beautiful plane.
