Yeah... those wires are tiny... glad it's working. Look forward to hearing about a successfull flight.

I agree 100% on the wattmeter.

I also think we've been abandoned by the original poster .

Until the next interesting thread ....

Sure.... but at what voltages? I think we could be missing some details on the history of the motor perhaps?

Depending on the current draw/voltage it was run at and all.

Just thinking outside the written word here .

Like I said, I hope it is just a timing issue. I guess we need some more feed back from the original poster.

Cheers,

Re: Squeeling brushless....

Hey Phil... totally agree on your comments, but would add that I had a similar problem with a motor that I had over propped (while not paying attention ). The coils got so hot they partially melted the insulation on one of the phase wires causing a small short that would vibrate in and disturb the timing at certain stages of throttle.

I've since found and fixed the problem (added new shrink to the phase wire) and the motor is like new.

Moral of the story: Don't over prop or otherwise heat your motor too much!

Hopefully it is just a timing issue.

Re: Squeeling brushless....

It's likely that the motor itself is not the cause. Motor squealing at part throttle is usually caused by incorrect ESC timing. Fortunately most ESC's have adjustable timing.

What make/model ESC are you using? Usually you can re-program them using your transmitter, but I need to know the make/model to give the correct instructions.

Squeeling brushless....

Hey there,
I'm having problems with an eflite 480 brushless outrunner(910kv) connected to a 30 amp esc and swinging a 11x6 folding prop......with the prop on, she runs fine at lowest rpm but at around half throttle there's a squeeling sound and the motor stops......without prop, if I advance the throttle fast enough she turns faster all the way to full throttle.....I took the motor apart and didn't find anything wrong but the collar at the back of the motor did seem loose and I later found it's threads were stripped.....could this be the culprit?....I'll be heading out for a new collar soon......thanks
