Re: Servo grease

I guess one needs to read the label and see that it doesn't have petroleum products in it. White Litheum has been around forever and was used because it didn't thicken up with cold temp and could be put on anything without dire results. So much for the advancements in technology.

The real thing.
Why would you not use it?

Re: Servo grease

Yeah I kinda wondered about that, the lithium grease we have @ work is definitely petroleum based.

Re: Servo grease

There's a couple of guys over at RCG testing greases and found several of the additives in lithium based greases turned the plastic gears into butter... So you can't really just generalize to use a lithium grease based product.

Technically, if you want the best grease for the job I'd use dielectric silicon grease. It's proven to be safe.

Re: Servo grease

I've been using this in my Hitec MGs...

Re: Servo grease

As Spog says, petroleum based grease will deteriorate plastic. After all plastic is a petrolium product. White litheum grease is best as it's synthetic.

Re: Servo grease

Dielectric grease should be fine too, as added bonus it's meant to exclude water, great us float fliers.

Re: Servo grease

I got a tube of servo grease from my local hobbyshop. It is by hitec, there own original grease. It must be cheap enough, he didn't even charge me.

Re: Servo grease

I think the grease should be used sparingly since many servos have open pots. A very low viscosity would be beneficial for cold weather. Petroleum based products may damage plastic and rubber, so I won't use them.
I use tamiya ceramic grease.

Re: Servo grease

In my case, a little bit of vaseline makes the job and its very cheap.
