Re: Lost phantom 2 NEED HELP I own a Phantom, A2, Wookong-M, MultiWii, Naza-M V1 w/GPS, Naza V1 w/o GPS and a Multikopter controller and out of all of them, the A2 and Wookong-M are way ahead. The Multikopter has way more options as mentioned, but 90% of them are very specific to certain applications. The Mikrokopter sits in my workshop while all the other fly all the time. From what i've tested, it is not as accurate, not as fast to react, not as smooth and the 250m limitation is VERY annoying. I switched my main craft from Mikrokopter to Wookong-M and would not go back. Just my opinion... |

Re: Lost phantom 2 NEED HELP The WKM & A2 are developed for heavier rigs, the algorithms are different and the whole attitude feedback loop runs faster. They have a higher resolution IMU setup and the GPS is also different to the rest of the Naza family. They are both well polished products and you have all the tweaking you need in the assistant software. In my experience the open source software packages are simply too nerdy to be of much use to anyone who doesn't spend 23hrs a day in a basement. The Naza V1/V2 is perfectly fine for most rigs, the extra money for the WKM/A2 is wasted unless you need to carry a bigboy camera setup on a heavy bird. The MK works fine if you can drive the software but you only got to look at it to see it's got some way to go before it can be regarded as a main line product, it looks like a lego experiment. TBH Most DJI haters have issues with their controllers because they can't afford them, it's that simple. Once you get past the fact that even the best products experience failures, there's nothing much to say against them. I am happy to pay extra for a product that has a manual, all comes together in one box, a central online software repository and which works. |

Re: Lost phantom 2 NEED HELP thats really cool thanks for the insight.. i thoroughly enjoy all aspects of the hobby and i think soldering and creating your own quad would be super satisfying, frustrating and rewarding at the same time, just like any worthwhile endeavor. |

Re: Lost phantom 2 NEED HELP I've had the MK longer then the DJI line of FC's. The MK setup costs more then the naza but cheaper then the WKM or A2. The DJI GUI has only a few things you can adjust as compared to the MK GUI, which is more detailed in the setup. They do suggest the I2C esc's but an I2C converter with regular esc's works too. With the MK, you get all the features of DJI and more. No extra gear for waypoint flight on the MK but it's limited to a radius of 250m for the regular nav board, can only plot waypoints inside a 250m radius of home position. The DJI stuff is packaged in nice little boxes as compared to the open board of MK. Individual components can be replaced easier on the MK boards. DJI is plug and play as compared to the MK setup. The MK gear is stackable so not as much area for the gear, as compared to DJI. The MK nav board has a micro sd slot for flight logs, very extensive logging system with a GUI to view. For flight logs on DJI, you need the DJI osd at an extra cost. The 2.0 I2C esc's on the MK are good and will log esc temp and more. The new MK 3.0 I2C esc's are very fast to respond, quicker then the 2.0 esc's. They also will charge your battery under braking conditions, mah's back to the flight battery. I'm not aware of any other brand that can do that. |

Re: Lost phantom 2 NEED HELP Is there more to that story with the pros and cons of the MK vs dji A2 or WKM? |

Re: Lost phantom 2 NEED HELP Quote:
Oh wow I didn't know all of that .. I was actually considering purchasing a f450 and naza v2 with gps but when you consdier the price for everything from batteries to controller to escs I found it more economical to begin with a dji phantom 2 .. I mean if I had already batteries, charger, tx, rx then I most definately would have gone with a flame wheel or something along those lines. And the way I saw it was, well If I purchase the phantom I'm actually getting a reduced price for the same components and if I want to do so I can just switch all of the inner electronics over to a f450 frame. |

Re: Lost phantom 2 NEED HELP Yeah your absolutely right .. When I first got it I was goin to put it on however I didn't have any stickers so I did not want to put sharpie all over the phantom.. And thank you very much, I couldn't be happier unless I was the one who found it in be field haha that would have been a rush ... But anyways .. I guess if you wanted to be technical then call it a drift away.. But in any case I was showcasing the function to a Freind and therefore I absolutely waited and confirmed the home lock and sufficient satellites .. I actually waited longer than |

Re: Lost phantom 2 NEED HELP Congrats on the return of your quad. You going to show us the video? So it didn't really "lock-up" and fly away on its own on account of the flight controller? From the looks of it, the term "flyaway" is being overused to describe any kind of lost quadcopter, be it pilot error, strong winds, low battery, etc... Anyway, glad to hear you got it back. The most important lesson here is to make sure your phone number and email address is clearly marked on the quad-copter. Having "Return for Reward" on it would be a big help as well. |

Re: Lost phantom 2 NEED HELP hey guys to answer your questions... it was really cool to see the video once i got it, i had a lady return the qua by the way, i put a bunch of reward signs all over. anyways the thing like i said was locked in and had everything set up correctly. i turned it into rth and it started to drift with the wind, after trying to reel it back in, i trusted the function due to locking into satellites... it drifted for a while and i had no idea so i manually lowered the quad what i thought to be about half way but it actually landed the quad and turned off the motors hahaa.. it landed directly down wind 1500 meters and only cause i landed it.. it must have not had sufficient satellites or it might have been a blackout time for satellites on that day.. after saying all of that i may have taken off to early without acquiring home coordinates however i had the fast blinking lights so it was kinda confusing |

Re: Lost phantom 2 NEED HELP I have one Phantom, so it's just the naza FC. I have two complete Microkopter FC packages(FC, nav and GPS boards), quad and hex. I also have two naze 32's, which are way better then the stand alone naza(no gps). MK have been around since 2006 but not too many people use it as you need some building skill. DJI(just under 3 years old) have plug and play systems, no soldering skill required, the reason it's so popular. You can get an MK package for $800 as compared to the DJI WKM or A2 systems at $1100-1300. The MK has way more parameters to adjust as compared to DJI. I have been flying them for 4 years now without a failure or glitch. |
