Yeah, I know......LOL

Funny thing is, what you see in my pics is where I unload and set up from shows to the north end.....there is another 250 yards going the other way to the south.....

Another grass seed that is good (needs a major sharp mower, if/when you have to cut it) is "Streambank Wheat Grass! Its expensive too!

10-4 Eric...Start working lol . It takes 3 years for lawn grass to grow in thick . I used lawn grass so i wouldn't have to contend with those nasty clumps that you get in the wild grass.....Lots of work , but worth it . For lawn grass , i researched and chose a Kentucky blue grass called BLUE VELVET ( 175.00/50lb bag of seed ). It's a dwarf grass , that grows much slower than the normal Kentuck's you get , so less mowing . I always use an 18-18-18 fertilizer mix. I get it from the sod farm next door to me. This equals a solid root base. The grass grows so thick , it chokes out the majority of the weeds & wild grass. Yes it's expensive initially, but the fuel & weed killer's needed are greatly reduced in the long run . Blue Velvet is an agricultural experimental grass they developed ( on the experimental farm in Saskatchewan ) specifically for the northern Canadian climate & is extremely hardy ( but more difficult to start ). Mind you , my runways are mostly clay , so there you go. People tell me my runways are like walking on a carpet , ultimate compliment for me lol..i love it..makes me feel like i done a good job. If you want Blue Velvet can be had from a distributor called PICSEED.. Tell you what ! Don't know if i can attach the data sheet for it , but i'll try. If you don't get , means i failed .
Happy Farming..lol

Good choice Curtis! We normally only fly powered gliders, old timers & the Seniorita out of the yard but Buddy was down from the city with his hot rod plane & thought he had enough room. He did too - if he would have listened to me & walked over & stood under the power line when he did his landing aproach!

Power lines are the most decieving thing I know of to judge the distance of!

The 490 got increased to 660 & the 425 went to 525 , right to the border limits of my property.50' width is definitely narrow , but doable ....75 would have been much better. With these length increases , i'll now be able to still land comfortably , even when hitting the runway late....."That's " where i went wrong in the initial build . Lots of people flew here , & every body was coming down to late...you need the extra length for the mistakes.
Enjoy your build & your field when it's done...i sure do mine now. Mowing doesn't bother me..it's pleasurable & the runways are always looking great .Always great comments from all . Make em long partner..make em long...you won't regret it !
