Re: B-USA 1/3 Fokker DVII

Thanks Wendell.

Udet was the youngest highest scoring German ace to survive the Great War. In the 30's after several years of stunt/circus flying the Nazi's recruited Udet and used him to gain popularity for the new Luftwaffe. Udet was instrumental in developing the JU87 Stuka and Luftwaffe dive bomber tactics. After the Battle of Britain loss Udet became Goering's scape goat and received the wrath of Adolf Hitler. Ernst Udet committed suicide Nov. 17, 1941. Some say it was by Hitler's order? I think the years of alcohol abuse and ever growing dissolution with the Nazis, and Germany as a whole, drove him to take his own life. He was given a hero's funeral and is buried next to Manfred Von Richtofen. Werner Molders was killed in a JU52 transport enroute to Udets funeral.. another great loss for the Luftwaffe. Molders is also buried next to Udet and Richtofen.

I wonder what would have happened if Udet had defected? Probably the guilt of betraying his country and the alcohol abuse would have drove him to the same end......

You have workmanship I wish I was disciplined enough for.
You seem to be an Ernst Udet fan.
He was too nice a guy to be working for the nasties, and was under
suspicion by the Gestapo, only a few months after Rudolph Hess defected,
and was forbidden to fly.
A great historical "IF"--Udet had defected instead of Hess ??

No unfortunately I am not making the trip down to the Scale Masters, I did qualify though, so that's an accomplishment in my books! Have fun and take lots of pictures!
