Re: DX18 Update. Dont do it!!!!!!!!!! I got ----. got treated like i did something wrong. I showed the website error. actually got badmouthed by spekt developer on rcgroups. Cost me $50 to ship there. No acknowledgement of issue on their part. Nothing. That is is just one of the reasons that i now fly jet!!! A minor reason, but when somebody put one in my hands after being treated like that by HH, i was way more receptive to looking at new options. |

Had the exact same thing happen to me, two days after receiving the radio, I phoned Horizon Hobby explained what had happened in great detail,I received a mailer for UPS in the mail and shipped it back, took two weeks, but didn't cost a penny, and it's all up to date now. Spektrum should have a better explanation on the upgrades for sure. But HH customer service is spot on. And the radio is incredible in what it will do. |

Re: DX18 Update. Dont do it!!!!!!!!!! I read the update instructions, not the change log. As i said, HH has always returned my called in 10-30mins. Yesterday, they took 3hrs. When i asked if they were flooded with other screwed people like me, he gave me the "no politically correct answer" but the ways he said it, and a couple other things he implied, suggested they were swamped with calls about it. |

The web page you made the PDF of (update page) says you must have 1.01 (Apr. 8 2013) but the change log for 1.04C has the correct statement "NOTICE This version requires that you previously installed version 1.04 (8 April) into your radio." Re: DX18 Update. Dont do it!!!!!!!!!! Ok, here is what i think may have happened. Newest update has a requirement for previous update. It says, to update to 1.04C, you need 1.01 (Apr 8, 2013) update. Problem is April 8, 2013 update is actually 1.04. The 1.01 update was release way back august 13, 2012. I had 1.02 on my unit. It says check it the setting to confirm this before update to 1.04. I had 1.02, so i was good. But I think, spektrum has typo, the date and the version requirement don't match. I think the requirement should read, 1.04 (April 2013). Unfortunately, i didn't make the version/date link til now. The how to instructions do include the prerequisites. I read 1.01 (missed the date) and i went for it. My advice is, phone HH and confirm this before doing any updates. I made a pdf of the DX18 update download page and the DX18 change log for those who don't have access. see attachments Hope you have better luck than me. |

Re: DX18 Update. Dont do it!!!!!!!!!! Excuse my ignorance, but what was wrong with these radios that they required an update? Or was it just a need to keep current? What happened to 'don't fix it if it ain't broke'? Wish there was an update for my dx6i. |

Re: DX18 Update. Dont do it!!!!!!!!!! So once you attempt an improper load it won't accept the proper one? That is nice to know. I will be super careful if I ever have two Airware radios. No issue right now since I only have the one and only have access to it's own file. I wonder what would happen if you tried to use the file from same model but different S/N radio? I know Andy has said it will not load but I wonder if it would be the same type of result. I just did the 1.04C and it seemed to make binding smoother. |
