Re: What's the next step to fly IMAC Much better night tonight! Actually made it through the sequence like I sorta knew what I was doing! But alone out there so I would keep leaving something out, first five maneuvers no problem, keeping the rest in order was a problem. It will come... |

Re: What's the next step to fly IMAC Hmmmm! I've never been frustrated, more like confused...... Keep the priorities of the flight straight.... often getting the feeling that I was my own worst enemy! Like the seasoned guys mentioned, a full understanding of the basics and how to do them is essential. My Karate training makes learning the sequence a breeze. Some of the Kata consist of 30 or more individual techniques. We often trained with a couple partners that would attack during the appropriate time. Ummmm, you learned quickly to keep things in order, and learned the practical application. |

Re: What's the next step to fly IMAC Sounds like you guys are smitten by the bug. Ain't it fun! I'm not sure if you guys are using a partner to help call, critique, and share the thrill( misery.) but if you can enlist someone it makes things so much easier. Are you doing the Great Canadian Aerobatic Challenge? It will help develop the basics and each week focuses on a single maneuver. It gets really fun by weeks seven and up and your club could win some cash! To sign up just email me at leeprevost97@yahoo.ca and tell me your clubs name and your're in! It's also easier to download the Challenges. Just go to the MAAC web site and click on the banner that says "The Challenge is coming" and the links to the poster and the weekly challenges will show up. BTW week two is now available |

Re: What's the next step to fly IMAC Don't get frustrated, it is not easy. I am in my fourth season of Sportsman and still cannot make two flights the same. Some are great, others are very poor. When you practice, don't fly more than three maneuvers at a time, and repeat for the entire flight. Focus on your straight lines, wings level, and repeat until you are happy with them. There are too many lines and pieces to go wrong if you do more than that. I use lots of expo (70%) to prevent over correcting. We often practice what we call "the opener", or the first three. and work on that. It builds a strong eye-hand memory until you don't need to think of what is next, you just do it. Then you add a few pieces at a time. A very common problem, don't rush!! It should look like a real pilot is flying it (not one who is not hyped upon red bull). Focus on the line length, placement, and angles and if there are a few "The Simpsons" clouds out, use them as a reference. Keep practicing, it is a great feeling when they are 70% perfect or better. Remember, 7's are actually very good scores. Just my experience, Brendan |

Re: What's the next step to fly IMAC Brent, I'm already into the humble pie. Tried to practice and for some reason got no where just got myself frustrated. Everything I did turned out wrong. Either I'm flying the up lines way to high up or I need glasses! And that was just one of my many problems. I just couldn't get it together. Not happy with myself at the moment. Know I should have done better but made a mess of everything. Why? I wish I knew. Oh well, try again Tuesday. |

Re: What's the next step to fly IMAC Oh just wait Rick, there is another humble pie out there. Just discovered today that you can look at the spreadsheet (on-line) of your scores. Its a good way to see what your doing. |

Re: What's the next step to fly IMAC Brent, you sound like me! I had a blast at the Keswick IMAC intro. As you say, great guys and very open to teaching newcomers. I can't wait till the "real" IMAC at Keswick at the end of the month!! Tomorrow I hope to get a lot of practice in, I need it And the nerves were working against me at the IMAC intro, couldn't get my motor to start, flip, flip, flip, flip, nothing. My caller came over and asked, fuel, check, radio on, check, ignition, oh !! |

Re: What's the next step to fly IMAC I just have to bump up this thread! Post contest observations: What a blast! Good people, good flyin' and oh so much to think about and apply! Learned from my boo-boo: Don't start your plane before you turn your Tx on! They talk about ya! Even if you try to tell 'em it was to check your fail-safes! |
