Re: DH Vampire schemes Bat Head is looking good so far seems its one of the few schemes with enough images and documentation to recreate faithfully. Digressing heres a Kerry Sterner scratch built version owned by another Aussie flyer Kevin Dodd. Its a 'tad' chubby with an AUW approx 52 lb. Has a 27 lb thrust TJT-3000 for go, and flys great. The scheme is scale and of an Aussie RAAF target tug version. Ironically theres plenty of documentation for this one, but Iam still more partial toward the desert camo or Bat Head to be honest. And I thought the Venom was tough to source schemes for!!! the Vampire is near on as difficult.... Keep em coming guys Iam still shopping for suggections... Cheers- Marty |

Re: DH Vampire schemes Yeah I would like to do a Canadian one, again at the end of the day it will likely come down to documentation I can source. I would like to have clear images of nomenclature etc. if possible. The desert camo schemes stand out really well against a blue sky. This Canadian scheme below is my favorite so far... And here is another Rhodesian one that is nice also... |

Re: DH Vampire schemes Hi Marty Great - please post some pics as you go along. I grew up around them as my Uncle flew them in Rhodesia (along with Canberras and Hunters) and I would love to see what you end up with. I still get chills when I think of how he did low passes over us and "waggled his wings" for me and my buddies! The Vampire was a beautiful plane and the noise was quite something! Anyway, there seems to have been many schemes and some of them are very attractive. Take care.. Chris |

Re: DH Vampire schemes Hey Chris, Thanks I like the Rhodesian AF scheme, certainly different eh. I forgot to mention Iam looking for single cockpit version of the Vampire. Of course as usual its a challenge to find decent documentation, enough anyway for the schemes Iam attracted to. The Iraq scheme desert camo really looks cool as do some of these in the links below... Ive just started looking anyway so Iam sure there will be some better images out there. What about the Rhodesian Air Force? It sure will raise questions as most folks would not recognize it! I am sure you can research the details, as there were a number of variants over the years but: "de Havilland Vampire T.11 in the markings of 2 Sqn. The de Havilland Vampire was the most numerous aircraft type in the history of Rhodesian Air Force, a total 66 aircraft in various versions being used between 1953 and 1985. Sixteen of their number were two-seat T.11 trainers which operated from March 1955 until November 1977 with No.2 Sqn. " Or you can choose the trainer (I think) look : Just a thought... use or abuse!
