Ok thanks! That is one area that electrics demand more respect than engines - never had an accidental start up with a glow engine while I was working on the plane!

Re: Flying at Long Lake

Well Merv I do have a motor kill switch that is on the back right of the radio so I don't hit it by mistake, but put the radio down on the bench hit the switch with my finger and the plane moved forward off the bench onto the garage floor not sure what the prop hit cause I was scrambling trying to shut the motor off.
Not a problem anymore

Don, just trying to understand what happened there and why. Was it the plane that hit the garage door or just the prop?
Also, did you hit the kill switch by accident or do you normally set up a kill switch on electric?
Thanks Merv

Re: Flying at Long Lake

I had a counter rotating prop when I assembled the plane, until I hit the motor kill switch with some throttle on, the plane was on the bench, needless to say it headed for the garage floor broke the prop and I never did replace the prop. I REMOVE all props unless I'm flying now.

Linz, I don't normally fly when there is people around, can't make the MAAC spec on crowd control on the beach, it's not deep enough to make the distance away from the fight deck. I fly during the week, there's no one around.
All my planes are e flight so no noise issue.

Re: Flying at Long Lake

Is that a public or private beach? Do you have neighbours or anyone who would complain about the engine noise, or do they just come out to watch?

Nice planes and looks like your in a nice all season place too.

This year will hit 38 so she has me well trained too.

Had you tried a LH prop on one side? Did that on a PBY with the result much better control.

Re: Flying at Long Lake

Hi Cougar
Well I have been married to her for over 40 years, I get away with most things.

The twin is electric powered by two eflite32's and I use 4 cell 5000 ma
batteries, three blade 11x8 props.
The setup works great off the field and lake on skis in the winter.
Now with the weight increase of almost 4 lbs it could be interesting.

All part of the fun, I must have a 50 plus flights on this thing so it knows how to fly without me.

The Twotter has always been one of my faves, both full and model scales. Look forward to seeing yours in pics and hopefully vids soon.

What make and power?

ps. Did the other half know you were using the Jacuzzi that way?

Re: Flying at Long Lake

Hi Folks
Well it's summer at the lake and time for float flying
Couple of new planes on floats
The Twin is not quite done, but with total rain in the forecast it could be a garage weekend and the plane gets completed.
See you on the field

Re: Flying at Long Lake

Hi Lindsay
I live at the Lake so I head to the beach and fly.
Most summer flying is during the week, this time of the year it's very quiet. I'm waiting for the ice to come off, should be out next week.
