Yea,
scale helicopters are something the public like to chat about and see from close-up point of view while we display and flying them ...

Scale are more demanding on the making and on the finish and on the scale flying routine and thats why not many consider a scale helo. But again it is not for everyone as many have not much experience flying them and need to earn more experiences with such a build.

But again if you dont try you wont know how you will do with them ...

Thanks guys. And thanks Mike B for the paint advice!

Update on the CH135

I was having challanges with terrible resonate vibrations ( turned out to be the blades - see build notes) and then the weight and setup took some getting used to and some fine tuning. It was worth persevering through though. It is flying quite scale now. It is becoming a favorite to take to fun flys and is popular with folks. Looks good in the air. I suspect scale machines get folks interested in helis who can't relate to pod and boom machines.

I am finding scale helicopters take the complex and sometimes aggravating hobby of heli building/flying and take it to a whole new level of challange. The Md500 makes a lot of sense for scale projects - relatively easy to build, inexpensive, somewhat aerobatic, and fairly simple.. Just don't talk about that Tiger - crash video coming soon, umbrella gear failed in flight!

Wow, nice making on this CH-135 mate ...

The real inspiration for this project came as well from this gentleman’s amazing job on a CH-146 http://picasaweb.google.com/PaulG91/...146SARInflight- it is a really good looking machine.

Well that is very cool Jeremy ...
Its my flying homebase place and made those photoshoot of the Griffon ...

Glade it did inspire you to go foward into a build ...

Again nice flying machine you`ve got your self mate ...
Many happy flying with it ...

Awesome Jeremy.

Thanks so much for the extra work giving us valuable information on this kind of build. Being a "scale" guy, it's nice to see a helicopter looking like and being flown like a full scale aircraft.

Your model is spectacular and well done!

CH-135 Canadian SAR Heli - flying finally!

It took some time - a very severe vibration, just at lift off, plagued me for quite a while and did minor damage to the machine each time I tried to get it in the air. It turned out to be the 425d black blades - perfectly balanced but maybe too stiff? or defective inside? I don't know but swapping them out immediately solved the problem.

So here is her first full maiden flight
Thanks to Kevin Patterson for his always excellent videography.
