Re: Phase 3 Squall EDF video plane The weather was perfect last night for a flight of my Squall so I took it out to the field and set up my ground station. I had a spotter/launcher with me for a flight beyond LOS. I powered up the Squall and went to check for sats and video reception when I broke the right arm off my googles  . I had some tape with me but they didn't fit right and I had to abort my flight. I've since epoxied the arm back on with a piece of balsa and a strip of FG cloth around the break. I also wrapped some cloth around the same spot on the other arm. I can't close the arms but thats not a problem. Now the weather has turned crappy with rain coming...bummer. The FPV gods did not want me to fly last night .Brian. |

Re: Phase 3 Squall EDF video plane I went out last night and had a test flight on my Phase 3 Squall. I just added a Dragon Link UHF rx and my EzOSD and tracker system. The flight went very well with good RSSI indication. The antenna tracker did a good job of keeping up. Next will be a flight beyond LOS.

Re: Phase 3 Squall EDF video plane Mike. This is going to be a blast!. I had it out to the field and did a ground range check. I walked away, with the Squall, about 500m and did not receive any failsafes. I'm good to go for a test flight tonight, if the winds die down a bit. We've had a lot of rain lately and no flying .Here is a pic of my wall. It's getting crowded . The Mig and F-15 need maiden flights. I need 30lbs of pull for the F-15 and my new bungee turned out to be a dud. I tried a 20lb pull with the F-86 and it went only 20ft on the grass and stopped. The bungee gave up it's energy too fast. I haven't looked for new stuff yet.

Re: Phase 3 Squall EDF video plane Jerry. You got me thinking of using my Squall for FPV. I installed my EzOSD and a Dragon Link rx in my Squall. I also made a new ground station for my Ez Antenna Tracker. I did a ground check on my front lawn and the tracker worked as it should. Next will be to go out a do a test flight and check the tracker and video link are working during the whole flight. If the recording looks good with no video loss, I'll do a google flight. I'm good for a 5-6 min. flight so I'll be only going 1-2 km away. I just need to arrange for someone to give it a hand toss. I'm not too keen on launching the Squall with the googles on and then trying to grab the stick. Crappy weather here right now, so this weekend I hope. |

Re: Phase 3 Squall EDF video plane No FPV with the squall...yet . It's totally "cammando" style, no on screen data. I need to get some more experence with my EG. The squall moves pretty quick and you need to think fast as compared to a glider. I did have my googles hooked up to let the spectators have a look. I was told they got dizzy. You need to sit down when you fly fast and crazy.
