Re: Need Help

What you have to do is get everybody's opinion, do a lot of research and make up your own mind. Most people giving advice think they know best. Some sales outfits like "www.banggood.com" at the bottom of the page for a certain item will list the honest opinion of actual purchasers.

Re: Need Help

I too will state join the local club. There is usually a cost involved in joining a MAAC sanctioned organization, but in the long run it is one of the best investments you can make.

The advantages are:

They will likely be willing and able to help and welcome a new member. Most of us would like to teach what we have learned over the years and help others avoid the same mistakes.

Their experience will be invaluable in teaching you the rules and regulations we must apply, the equipment they find that works and sources that may be at first difficult to locate on your own. In fact, I would not doubt they could be convinced to find something in spares that is just what you need.

These clubs also fly at sites that already have approval and you would then be under the MAAC insurance coverage. Not sure where you are from, but the US and Canada seem to thrive on litigation, (just watch all the lawyer commercials on daytime TV or look through the phone book!).

In the end, you will make lots of new friends that share your interest.

Join a club! Like minded people with the interests will only increase your enjoyment of the hobby. Yea you could fly alone... But how much will what be over the long run.

Stickjammer I just started in March 2014 and I bought the eflite apprentice

My first 10 flights were by myself with no instructor and I did not destroy the plane

Having said that it is way better to utilize an instructor on the buddy box but The technology in the apprentice receiver is phenomenal and will save you money

Hi Dixit
Welcome to Canada.
Like Dennis said, get involved with the Lakehead club.
They are a great bunch, and always willing to help new guys.
Also drop in at the Lakehead models hobby shop at 262 Bay street.

Re: Need Help

The local club in Thunder Bay is called the Lakehead Aeromodelers.

Their website is here http://www.lakeheadrc.ca/

Give them a call, I'm sure someone local will help you out.

Regards,

Dennis

Re: Need Help

Thank you for your precious time tommy and Arn, it was very nice to here from you. I asked the question but i failed to add more about myself, I have initially been with RC stuff i do have made my two of avispad. Also before flying my avispad i trained myself with simulator. so being student i am new to this RC but not 100 % fresh. Back to my country i was able to get CORO SHEETS so it was easy for me to make avispad but i am not aware about the materials available in canada. So can I get help regarding making easy plane with easily available material.

Re: Need Help

Taking your reference to "student" I assume you interest is in flying .... then Tom's questions/comments would be correct. I'll just add .... find a club in your area and get to know them. Their members are usually a good source of information and assistance. Just keep in mind that learning how to control an aircraft that's in the air and your not takes some time. Start with something that can fly slowly .... your local hobby shop should be a good source for info on which planes work best with new fliers ... my personal choice is a Kadet Senior or something like it .... being winter ... a simulator might also be of some assistance .... have a look a ClearView... add an inexpensive USB controller and you will get the feel for it .... for not a lot of cost ...
