Re: Turnigy Multi-function DC Watt Meter operation instruction manual

Hi Steve,

I addition to what I mentioned in the email, the RPM/KVA meter shown in the picture has a link located in post number 7. Hope this helps.

Hi,

I added pictures of the watt meter display screens to the PDF file in the first post of this thread. You can now see what the meter actually displays and hopefully will clarify what it does.

Here is an interesting read on Watt Meters. Granted only two types were tested, but you get an idea of quality to expect:

Personally, I use an Eagle Tree eLogger for in-flight amp and voltage measurements. I also have rpm and temperature sensors. I can also perform static testing on the bench... with live data using a laptop and USB connection.

Re: Turnigy Multi-function DC Watt Meter operation instruction manual

Hi,

I just found another item at the HK site that may allow me to get prop RPM readings while testing with the watt meter. I'm hoping to get both units to work together. The link is here:

I've ordered one to see how it works - if you have any experience with the unit, would you please let me know? Thanks.

Hi,

I think you will find that you will like the unit, it works very well and is very reasonably priced.

However, I can not take credit for finding the unit, Chuck Barsony, Past President of the Brant Flyers is the one who first showed me this Watt Meter and he did all the leg work to find it. Thanks Chuck.

I found the instructions hard to follow so this is my contribution to help others to better understand how to hook up the meter for use. I've added a few drawings of sample connections/wiring on the second page.

Please let me know if you find it useful.

I look forward to any suggestions you may have to to make it easier for others to understand.

Wayne- that sounds like a great device. I read your PDF file and it made perfect sense to me just by looking at what you had drawn/annotated, and I never even seen that particular device before.

Re: Turnigy Multi-function DC Watt Meter operation

Thanks again Wayne - my recent order, my first, took ten days to work it's way through to shipping and ten days to get here and nought to pay. Also got three really nice 12volt, 5amp switching power supplies at the same time, $9:99 ea. Will spring for a tester like yours next order. No matter how complex your motor test set-up is, you still have to feed the ESC pulses! (PCM pulses - sic!) It only lacks a tach!

Re: Turnigy Multi-function DC Watt Meter operation

Hi,

It is located at this link:
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=6553

I also got one of their TR52DV camera which takes video's and stills, its a little bigger than your thumb and takes good video with over an hour recording time. They both lacked clear instructions and I have another post with the instructions for the camera. The price was about $25 or less.

Another interesting device is their HKB-Medic, it plugs into the balancing port of your battery and reads the voltage for each cell and balances them and displays voltages on an LCD screen. Cost is $23.95.

Batteries and motors are a great price there as well.

They have a lot of neat stuff there if you browse the site.

Previous poster has said they have taken as little as a week to get here, but they have just opened a new warehouse and my order took a little over 2 weeks at standard shipping.

Check stock status and do not backorder anything - it will hold up everything. Just flag the item for an automatic email to you when it is in stock.

Hope this helps. If I can help with anything else, let me know.

Re: Turnigy Multi-function DC Watt Meter operation

Wayne - this sounds like an interesting device - please point me at a spot where I can get more information. I've just invested in a different, basic Turnigy Watt Meter and have been testing it today. It's nicely made and at about 6Amps and up is quite accurate but below displays increasing error. Poor Zero adjustment??
I've never seen even hint of the device you've mentioned. Sounds very handy.

P.S. 'Nuther edit! Found it, thanks Wayne - under Data Recording??!!
