Thanks
I wouldent touch that with a 10 foot pole. It's a piece of crap only 50watt. If you are getting into this hobby why not just buy a proper charger. it will last and won't have to worry about issues.. Buy once be done with it

Re: Is this a good charger

I have recommended several of these for first timer's into electric RC.

Its a great charger and the dual power capability is perfect for someone just starting. They dont have to futz about when charging at home, plus they can bring it to the field.

BUT, I dont recommend buying it from HK.

HK is 39.99 + shipping @ 23.59= $63

Buy it from Ebay. I bought 2 for my noob friends in August, each a separate order.
On Ebay I paid 32.99 and FREE SHIPPING. A much better deal than Hobby King.

As for reliability, my bro was the first one to find it and tell me about buying it from Ebay about 4 years ago. Back then they were $29.99. All told, I have seen 8 of these bought among the people I fly with, starting with my brother and ending with the last 2 I ordered last month. to date, not one has had a problem with his.

That's not to say there may be an occasional lemon shipped every now and again. But that's the chance you take when ordering overseas. If you want peace of mind, buy from a local hobby shop. You pay more, but you can return it for a refund or replacement from anything you buy at the LHS (at least, that is the case with the ones I shop at)

Re: Is this a good charger

It depends what you are charging. If you are doing smaller packs then that one would be fine. If you are thinking going larger in the future then a bigger charger may be required.

I have been using 2- Accucel 6 chargers from HK for the past 4 years and they have been fine at 20.00 each, but one is starting to give me some issues (won't put full mah back into a pack), so I will probably be upgrading shortly and am looking at Cellpro/Powerlabs as my next charger.

Re: Is this a good charger

Lots of Hobby King chargers in use out here and one failed when when it was pushed way beyond its limits. My experience is that charger should be fine but it is limited to 50 watts.

You may want to consider a more powerful charger of 200 watts and perhaps get a separate power supply, if thinking long term and if getting into large packs.
