Re: Want to get in the Hobby Lol I loved reading through this thread. If anything, it made me more satisfied with my own route into this hobby. I just started flying a week ago, and I decided to work from the ground up. Sure I want a 120 SR, an mcpx and hopefully some bigger birds after that, but right now I am using an mcx2. I read GOTFrog's posts and while I am sure he is having fun, it would not be as much fun for me to just be learning how to hover for months. Instead, I am already doing all sorts of neat tricks and stunts. Once I actually learn the art of 4ch flying at this most basic level, I will move up to a Fixed Pitch with flybar, then a Fixed Pitch FBL, then an mcpx and then onto the big guys. I'm sure the skills I learn with the co-axial won't translate well to the other birds, but that said, it teaches me how the controls work, like how much input is needed to make different maneuvers, and which way to move the toggles in order to make it go in the right direction, no matter which way the nose is pointing. I guess what I am saying is that - to anyone reading this and not equipped with a heli of any kind yet - don't just shrug the mcx2 off as some kid toy. I think it is a great heli to start with, and just fuels my passion for the hobby all the more. Once I get more confident with my skills I will progress to other birds, but I already know now that the mcx2 was an excellent place to start and will always have a place in my heart. Thanks for this thread though, highly entertaining. -=Edited to say this: I, like GOTFrog, got hooked into the hobby by a little 3ch walmart heli. I want to be clear about this: The mCX2 is NOTHING like any of those department store helis. For one thing, it is 4ch, but for another it is 10x (no, probably more like 100x) more responsive, fast, maneuverable, challenging and fun!=- |

Re: Want to get in the Hobby Its some pretty nice posts here... I'm exactly, or almost, at the same position as GOTFrog... Not only I have good comments from people, I also have the chance to see him as a beginner to start with an msrx and his comments too. |

Re: Want to get in the Hobby My retired MSR had only 1 post on each side of the main body holding the canopy and tape fixing cracks and it still held fine.......Find a big room if you can---I use 20% expo on all surfaces---small inputs on the controls.. |

Re: Want to get in the Hobby It broke, but the crash that took out the tail motor also took out a canopy support thingy, cracked the canopy, so I guess cracked a blade too. Nice flying, wish I could do that. Can't seem to find the perfect neutral throttle I'm always going up or down. |

Re: Want to get in the Hobby Yeah well my heli doesnt like me, I give her a nice mcpx tail boom and motor, witch makes her a lot more stable, then she goes and lose a main rotor blade a few inches off of my face, now I have a nice scratch over my eye lid since she hot there when she lost control. damn when I get a new set of blades and fly her again I think I'll start wearing my security glasses. I get mo love from her. |

Re: Want to get in the Hobby I just purchaced the MSRX and it flys great,,,,,needs alot more concentration than the MSR, but if you can master this little heli you will benefit, when you move up to a more complexed machine,,,,good tool for the costs involved,, as is a sim ,,and experienced pilot hands on help. You are on the right track, have fun!! http://www.youtube.com/user/chevtrucky |
