I use the stock 1800mah Parkzone Lipo along with 2200mah Turnigy Lipos and have never had any CG balance differances with either pack... flys the same with both.

FYI

Center of Gravity Location:
• The center of gravity on your F4U Corsair should
be located approximately 2-1/2” (62-64mm) behind
the leading edge of the wing, when measured
against the fuselage. This CG location has been
determined with the ParkZone 1800mAh 11.1V
Li-Po battery installed.

I have a corsair, and did break the tail off, and in grass my landings end up in a forward flip (I prefer not doing belly landing). I always use 5 min epoxy to fix. Not much weight, and very strong. I coated the top of the tail with epoxy for strength. Your fiberglass added too much weight to the plane. Epoxy will do just fine.

There you go, now you know why the COG is off. Rebalance it, and go have fun.

There should be no balance issues with the Corsair on the stock battery if you push the battery all the way down the slot in the nose. In fact, it would likely end up slightly nose heavy if you did this, which is fine for the Corsair.

I used up to 2500mah packs in my Corsair. I had to carve out the battery slot a bit but it worked out very well. The weighting is all dependent on where you place the battery in the slot. Pushing it farther forwards will give you more nose weight. Sliding it back will give you less nose weight. Just move your battery forwards or backwards until you get the proper balance.

I have the same plane, what size battery are you using? Just thinking if you're going to add weight to the nose, why not add useful weight?

Re: pkz corsair porpoising

Great, thanks - yes I did check that and at first it was sticking as the hinge for the elevator had broken - once I retaped it there was some binding so I rearranged things and that is now clear. I think I need to add some weight to the nose of the plane. I got a couple blocks of wood, taped a pencil to each one and placed the plane on them at the location that I believe is the c of g (2.5 inches back of the wing mount measured at the center - only problem is moving that location out to about the wing servo's). When I try to balance the plane it seems tail heavy but if I push down a bit on the nose then after about an inch of pushing down it then tips forward. I placed washers on the top of the cowl and figured it takes about 4 washers (0.9 oz) to make it tip forward so will look to add this amount somehow to the front.
