Re: Wife want's new Dryer? I had no idea that a dryer took that much energy! We went solar about 6 years ago & haven't looked back since. Biggest problem with it is the wind. Some days you just can't keep them on the line so have a backup line in the basement. That's what we use in the winter. |

Re: Wife want's new Dryer? Got sick of fixing dryers and put up a clothesline by the back door. Saved 30% on the power bill & got the wife to pick me up a new engine at the LHS with the savings! Pretty smooth eh? Now that's red neck!

Seriously, my wife and I recently bought a Samsung pedastel set on clearance for about the listed sales price of the identical major-brand-name set, and included delivery, taxes and removal of the old units, plus included the pedastles. Old washer and dryer could probably have soldiered on for several years more, but the price and performance/new features sold us. Like shopping at Hobby King or the LHS, keep your eyes open for clearance items. If we'd waited until we really needed it, the price wouldn't have been there. Major appliances are not birthday or Christmas gifts, unless you have something else that's also a significant gift. You'll wind up with more than a wet crotch..... Right now, I'm buying lots of wood, not balsa, but pine and plywood. Doing a basement renovation so I have more storage room for what I do have plus orgtanizing the power tools. Next stepp will be enclosing the furnace and freezer. Adds another wall to my workshop -- read room for hanging kits and planes. BTW, my wife is also using this time to organize her work area in the basement. She's chucked out way more stuff than I have from mine, including scraps left over from her first wedding dress (read 1964). Today, she was doing more while I worked on my new storage bench when she squacked -- pin stuck vertically in the tip of her finger. "Serious injury hat" now put on -- any sign of grin, smirk or laugh totally supressed as the consequnces would have been ugly..... |
