Re: Wingham Jet Rally 2016.

It's been a week since Wingham jets up in Canada. But more importantly. Only 51 weeks till the next one! Wingham was probably one of the first jet meets that made me realise how much I enjoy the smaller and more laid back events. Lots of flying. A great group of guys who are genuinely there to have fun and share their love for the hobby. It's been wonderful watching this event grow. Blair Howkins, his wife Tamara and their dedicated team deserve all the praise that comes from those that attend. They have honed this event into a must attend for me! Thanks for having me and making my son and friends feel so welcome.
I managed to burn 25 gallons of fuel in my own models. Most of which went in the super viper from global jet club. Over 35 flights in 4 days with just that model ( it was that much fun )
I managed 21 or more test flights / maidens / new to owner test flights. I am guessing well over 100 flights in total.
I flew a f104 at sort of dusk ( a flight that I will never forget )
I ate. I laughed ( allot of both )
I had my ass handed to me at the awards ( by my son )
Most of all. I made memories that I will cherish. Thank you to everyone that was part of such a cool few days!

Re: Wingham Jet Rally 2016.

I could not have said it any better myself Pete! Thank you to every one involved!
I had a great time even if I did not fly much. Just seeing every one and watching Ali maiden my BVM Balsa Bandit and landing my Diamond without the nose gear. Simply Awesome, Also what a pleasure watching Ali's son Zavy fly, how lucky for him to enjoy this hobby at his age, the way Zavy is going he is going to be just like his dad or maybe even better if he keeps it up. We need to nick name him "RC Tigerwoods" lol...

Looking forward to next year already, It's to bad the time fly's by so fast! at least we have the memories....

Re: Wingham Jet Rally 2016.

What a great event this years jet rally was,a big thanks for all that put together this occasion to play with our jets and friends.
Their was a record number of pilots who attended this year, including people from all over the world.
For me, my highlight was watching eleven year old Zavy put the Big Sabre through its paces.
A big plus to this event was having Ali Machinchy testing/maddening and commenting on countless number of jets, including 2 of mine.
This years event was one of the safest events i have ever attended.
I think having a separate camper area, opened up the main field for more spectators, who really got a thrill of the noon time show, priceless..
A Big thanks to all the flyers who traveled hundreds of miles to attend.
And lastly, thanks to Blair and Tamera for your hard work.
Hope to see everyone next year.

Re: Wingham Jet Rally 2016.

Gentlemen this is all on me. we've had a running gag about always blaming the spotters if something goes wrong. sadly I posted it with poorly chosen phrasing and it took on a more insidious tone and people have reacted. I apologies deeply and truly to everyone. you guys from south of the border made this rally a thing to behold and a week to remember. please if there is anyone to be angry at it is me, had I typed LOL after my comment which I forgot to do I don't think we'd be at this point so again I am deeply sorry for this misunderstanding and truly hope to see you all next year.
