I had the same problem. I standardized all my connectors to JST. You can get them in 5 packs from the usual Asian suppliers. I Cut off all the ones that weren't JST and replaced them. Problem gone

I have to admit that I prefer a separate power supply vs one that's built in. When you try to cram all of that into one item there can be issues. Heat is one, failure of one part means replacement of it all is another.

Most all the chargers are setup to run 12v input .You only need a power supply to run indoors. That would be a 120v A/C converting to 12v DC.I hope I am not missing the point of the question.I run a 23amp Competition electronic power supply to run the chargers if I have ac power.Except the little Hyperion I have shown above as it has it's own power supply but is limited to 6amp output.Otherwise if I have no AC I just run them off my truck battery direct to chargers. Shawns setup sure looks first class !

I purchased one of those large automotive power boxes from Crappy tire. The one I have has DC 12V, 120V AC & jumper cables. Allows a certain max wattage rating. You have to look at the box to determine what kind of power you need to charge the batteries you fly with in order to get the right power box.

If you dont the voltage will sag to the reset point on the LiPo charger and that means decreasing the charging current to stay within the power rating.

A great little charger that charges up to 6s packs ,has a built in balancer,a built in power supply for 120 operation, charges at up to 6 amps is the Hyperion EOS0606I AC/DC.These are about 120.00 dollars. You can buy different balance adapters for the different balance taps TP/Hyp/ect for about 5.00 dollars each.I buy my Hyperion products from Waynes R/C in AB. PM me if you need his #

Well this is an each to their own, personally even the best tuned nitro engine cant even compare to e-power though and thats a thing for me, I really like relentless power As far as aquiring chargers, you only need one to two tops these days, there are MANY very good options out there to eliminate multiples etc..

There will always be guys (like me!) who enjoy running engines for the sake of it. I know I can fly a heli the size of the Radikal that is lighter, more powerful and higher performance but I just like internal combustion engines. Never been bothered by the smell, mess or anything else... ever.

If I had the funds (new baby might put the kybosh on that plan) next spring, a turbine heli would be my choice over electric

But my 500 Trex is a lot of fun, and easy to grab and go for a few quick flights, I understand that is one of the draws.

But would I want ALL electric? No thanks.. I like the sound of glow or gas, the smell, the fuss and so forth

Re: Is it just me or is the swing heading towards electric

A charger like that is out of my range but I do have four little one that I charge two packs at a time for two hours. On my 500 I have my batteries made up of two 2200 mHa 11.1v lipos wired in series. Just need more batteries and chargers. One thing about nitro is the sense of accomplishment that getting an engine tuned right brings and the raw power aspect too.
