Re: Build Thread: Compass 3D Plus FBL

My TX was still wet the next day after. I had to clean the remaining moisture off with q-tips and a bag of dessicant.

Ok. Finally got everyone else's helis off of my bench and got back to my 3D Plus.

It appears the one way bearing was the culprit .... it's now been replaced and ready for the maiden flight (vs. the maiden idle).

Well we'll require a good humour vid as always, maybe no sheep in this one though.

Well... we didn't get her in the air, but we got it running and started to run the motor in.

Having a small problem starting it at the end - looks like the crank nut may have come loose. I'm going to take it apart either tonight or tomorrow. Oh, well. Gives me some more time to put the finishing touches on it that I'm missing.

Regardless ... we had fun and it was a beautiful day out on the lake. I have some tweaking to do on all of my helicopters (my settings decided to go AWOL in my TX).

Thanks Jimmy, John, and Heinz for a fun day ... looking forward to the next one!

Stay tuned for the eventual maiden flight... lol!

Re: Build Thread: Compass 3D Plus FBL

Just up late doing the final adjustments and trims for the maiden flight tomorrow. We'll be out on the ice of Lake of the Woods, Ontario.

Weather Forcast:
Cloudy. Periods of snow beginning early in the morning changing to rain in the afternoon. Snowfall amount 2 cm. High plus 3.

Hopefully that rain goes away ... rain in February. WTH?!!

The Atom 500 is coming along to show the big brother how it's done.

(excuse the quality ... it's from my smartphone)

The remainder of the build to follow in the next day to two, along with hopefully some vids / photos of the maiden.

Thanks in advance to Jimmy P for lending a hand.

Re: Build Thread: Compass 3D Plus FBL

I was actually going to test a full-sized Rondo (courtesey of the mfg) but I forget to request the satellite adapter. For now I'm going to try the micro-rondo because I have plenty on hand. I will eventually be putting in the Skookum SK-720 as I already fly one on my Atom 500. Besides... they're Canadian!!

We'll definitely get some vids! This is my first nitro, I've been an electric guy since day 1 ... so it should be good for some laughs.

I have Tony Whiteside to blame for this....

Now, only if we can get that 7HV eh?? (I'm guessing you're the same person on HF)
